Looks like we will have to put the ac back into every room. Darn things poured water all over the floors when I pulled them out at our other place.

Also, once I get my new phone I will be asking for good spot to put up my weather station via pictures.

Portable or window AC?

Long range improved. 🤞

Edit: actually a substantial improvement over 12z, all things considered.

Winter can't get here fast enough.

It's been too hot for you with 60s and low 70s?    Winter passes just as quickly as summer does.   And so does life in general.

The lack of rainfall has been pretty incredible so far near the border in Whatcom County.

Clearbrook has records back to 1903, and they average 14.52" from March 1 to July 31.

Prior to this year their driest March-July period was 1924 with 7.34" of rain. Their 2nd driest was 1965 with 8.23" of rain.

This year since March 1 they have seen a total of 3.00" of rain. Have to think that's something on the order of a 1-1000 year type of result....

If it weren't in the upper 50's, one would assume these were observations in November or December.

1000 year arctic and snow event confirmed?!?!?!?!!?!

If we're getting two Ninas in a row, just going off the odds here the 2nd one won't leave Oregon in the dark in terms of snow and rainfall. At this point I wouldn't really mind if there's no major arctic event.

One other interesting stat from this month is the lack of sub 70 days. 2020 had 12 and 2019 had 10, just one  this year. Even 2015 and 2018 had 2 sub 70 days. Very little temp variation this month.

Through yesterday we had stayed in the 69-83 degree max temp range the whole month. Should get 2 +85 high temps on Thursday and Friday maaaybe 90 on Friday but we will see…slight chance we get to 85 today but I’m thinking 82-84 for this afternoon.

Why bother with the minutiae of existence when death is waiting to you envelop you in it's blanket of infinite darkness. Just release your ambitions to rid yourself of disappointment and become human fungi, eeking out life on the decaying matter of society around you with little care given to the direction of others.

In general the older you get... the less you wish away time to get to something else.

I struggle with this in late winter and spring in most years.

July 2015 had a week straight of below normal high temps. And one of the wettest weeks from t'storms I have seen here.
Ignore some of the #'s from KLMT; I have attached a report from 7/10 of 3/4" falling in probably an hour or so. There were two times that month I left Haggen to flooding streets. There was also at least 1/2" or more on 7/5. "Altamont" is technically city limits in K-Falls, I don't know why the internets thinks its a separate city. They're less than 5 miles from here.

One steak we’ve started is +80 days…today should be #5 and should be up to 8 by Saturday. Will be the longest streak of +80 days since 2018 when we had 9 in a row.

Pretty obvious we have a poor spot for storm events in the summer and that is our airport.

NWS SEA forecast would put us at +1.8 for July if it verifies as well…this after +4.2 in June. Will be interesting to see if august will end up warmer it has ended up that way 2/3rds of the time since 2005.

Models are really struggling with the mid range right now.  Huge run to run inconsistencies

The BC interior is smothered in smoke this morning.  It’s looking like we might avoid any major smoke intrusions on the coast for the time being.

Convection entering the Indian Ocean in ~ one week would, climatologically, favor a cool down in the West at this time of year under +NPO influence.

However, there is a large ensemble cluster across guidance that instead consolidates the vortex in Greenland/NE-Canada (rather than the Yukon/W-Canada). The Greenland solution would teleconnect to a warmer pattern in the West, while a Yukon vortex would evolve cooler, perhaps 2019-like if the stars align.

Given the +NAO tendency yet again this summer, am hesitant to bet against it. 😬 But there’s a *chance* for a substantial pattern change next month if things go right.

It sure is. Our only temps not well above average would be the middle of next week. Back to 100 by next weekend.

If it verifies, North Dakota and Minnesota are going to be setting some records in about 12 days.

Through 96 hours think Euro is going towards a better route to a potential cooldown.
