The lack of rainfall has been pretty incredible so far near the border in Whatcom County.

Clearbrook has records back to 1903, and they average 14.52" from March 1 to July 31.

Prior to this year their driest March-July period was 1924 with 7.34" of rain. Their 2nd driest was 1965 with 8.23" of rain.

This year since March 1 they have seen a total of 3.00" of rain. Have to think that's something on the order of a 1-1000 year type of result....

Remembered you talking about this the other day. Noticed a lot of the NW part of WA added into higher drought categories…the drought monitor shows moderate drought in San Juan and whatcom counties. Atleast there’s some hope on the models for rain.

Not sure why he thought this was a good idea. Sad and tragic. Hikers are urged to hike only before 10am, but article says he most likely started his hike when it was 118F with 91% humidity.

Geez. Couldn't put his phone down for ONE minute so he could rest and start early. Too much Fortnite?

Off topic, but southern Brazil is getting snow. It's not that uncommon in the highlands but this looks like an unusually severe event. Looking at models it looks like the 528 thickness line managed to just barely reach Brazil. Freeze warnings for agricultural regions there currently.

I can't believe I went this many years barely knowing what Fortnite was, and why so many people are into it.

I did take a pleasant walk in downtown this evening, not a whole lot of smoke (for late July standards is saying alot). After catching my breath I almost want to go back out. But I should hydrate. lol.

Looks like we had a high of 95.

That is a beautiful little cutoff low. We all dream this comes to fruition in order to wet the vegitation enuf to nip the fire danger in the bud so to speak

You must be right on the water in Everett? Your location has a great ability to maintain a cool enough marine breeze to keep your temp way down compared to other local areas. It's pretty cool to see your temp updates. ;)

You are right.  My station is about 171-200 feet up from the water, but looking directly at it.  Everett's entire waterfront and downtown get a nice cool marine air.  The city's official reading location is Paine Field, an open airport that sits at a high elevation and bakes in the sun.  It is very inaccurate to use for the city's official weather station.  If you ever wanna cool off, come check out the waterfront beaches and restaurants! :D Plenty of cool opportunities.

Wow. Euro spits out a 66F for SEA next Saturday by 5PM.  That's basically the high for that day.

Would LOVE for this run to verify. Decent amount of moisture and cool temps. Note that it's still raining at the end of the run. Still 10 days out though.

Maybe I was wrong and he was still trying to collect hidden pokemon in Pokemon Go.  A VERY controversial game that led several people to deaths by placing them in dangerous areas causing Nintendo to stop doing it. They were going to do the same concept with Mario Kart on a phone where you use a real car to go to certain spots to collect rewards but when that show happened with Pokemon I can see why they cancelled.

Lol not really sold on those high totals yet considering the run beforehand had like 0 rainfall. We will see where we’re at in a few days. Hopefully there’s atleast something on the models by then.

00Z EPS showed the trough solidly moving inland later next week... I am pretty optimistic that it will actually rain this time.
