I'm loving all the rain in the possible forecast!  I hope it happens.  Our entire region needs it to rain!  A few days of good rain.

Decades from now when our grandchildren are reviewing it, the record may not reflect it... but make no mistake. Today was a stunning victory for the good guys.

86/64 at PDX now, they were 93/59 an hour ago. A moist east wind kicked up.

The little monsoonal push in the mid-levels almost acting like a surface front.

Smoky skies and some mid-level high cumulus clustering. Apparently some bolts west of town so if there's no rain then buildings are in trouble.

Looks like a pretty decent storm down by Medford again. You can make out the slight bit of smoke aloft as well.

78.3F is the hottest it got here today.  I don't think it will get any warmer.  There is also a near-constant marine breeze blowing west to southwest.  The trees are moving.

If anyone wants to cool off,  I'll make hotdogs and hamburgers.

Noooooo!    The 12Z EPS says we take a little dip into the 70s for a few days with some showers and then summer comes back.    And there are still some warm days before the cool period as well.

But what does HCS stand for? I'm assuming it's something to do with convective storms, but I'm not sure.

High Cloud Shocker. Basically clouds causing the high temperatures to underperform.

That's quite a bit more of a cool spell than the EPS was showing 6+ days out from the last cool spell. Could easily end up chillier than that.

We had some heavy rain today with thunderstorms. One sat over the Tamarack fire and pretty much put it out. Now we just need a storm to sit over the Dixie fire.
