87 in Tacoma currently matching yesterday’s max high temp. 90 is definitely possible. If any clouds make it here they won’t make it in time to impede the heating process most likely.

Yeah, I think it was Jesse who mentioned the similar setup at this point in 2018 on the models. That was forecast for days to be a big pattern shaker but the low just cut-off more and more and pumped up another prolonged heat event, before it kind of fizzled out entirely and eventually passed through harmlessly as little more than a 500mb impulse with some spotty drizzle.

Climo sucks, especially now.

This doesn’t have that feel.

It’s gonna rain.

If there is still such a thing as over do, we are. DOWN to 89 at SLE now. Down to 74 at Drakes Crossing.

Hermiston rocking a 108 on the hour.

Decades from now when our grandchildren are reviewing it, the record may not reflect it... but make no mistake. Today was a stunning victory for the good guys.

Right now we are on about the 50-yard line.    But a touchdown is guaranteed!

Not if Russell's offensive line can't prevent him from being sacked...

Smoky skies and some mid-level high cumulus clustering. Apparently some bolts west of town so if there's no rain then buildings are in trouble.

Stuck at 89 here.  Plenty warm for me, but as long as we’re in the neighborhood might as well get to 90.

Yeah we might do it we will see by 6pm. Still pretty warm wether it hits 90 or not.

The 18z was downright chilly days 6-10.

And then it turns hot again.

But might be a chance for a couple people to tout a very cold August... just as we wrap up our very 1954-like July.   ;)

Looks like a pretty decent storm down by Medford again. You can make out the slight bit of smoke aloft as well.

78.3F is the hottest it got here today.  I don't think it will get any warmer.  There is also a near-constant marine breeze blowing west to southwest.  The trees are moving.

If anyone wants to cool off,  I'll make hotdogs and hamburgers.

Summer is over after today!

Noooooo!    The 12Z EPS says we take a little dip into the 70s for a few days with some showers and then summer comes back.    And there are still some warm days before the cool period as well.  👍

Hi ... sorry to butt in and ask a dumb question. I'm a lurker.

But what does HCS stand for? I'm assuming it's something to do with convective storms, but I'm not sure.

High Cloud Shocker. Basically clouds causing the high temperatures to underperform.

That's quite a bit more of a cool spell than the EPS was showing 6+ days out from the last cool spell. Could easily end up chillier than that.
