Some pretty impressive overnight lows numbers about a week from now on the 0z. Widespread 40s to low 50s? Northern Cascades could see a freeze! 🥶

We just had that yesterday and today.

Right. But this could be the first time since early June that SEA will be solidly be in the mid-40s for the overnight low. That's worth mentioning. We'll see!

Going to be going on a central Oregon road trip September 19th-25th. Going to camp at little lava lake. Never been there before but looks pretty scenic from some of the photos I saw. Going to try and see crater lake and the painted hills while I’m down there and some other hikes.

00Z GFS precip loop over the next 10 days... still can't get a region wide rain event even with troughing.

Looks like Corvallis got hit pretty nicely.

Corvallis reported only a trace from 9-10 p.m... looks like the radar might have been a little misleading in terms of precip intensity.

So that hurricane is 10mb stronger on the 0z as it's about to make landfall. Landfall about the same though. Yikes.

A 953mb hurricane would put it at a Cat 3 w/ 111-129mph winds. 😔

Trough number 2 is really cold for this time of year on the latest run.  Getting chillier on every run right now.

So far the abnormally high pressure over the GOA shows no signs of going anywhere over the next half a month.  Certainly a chilly pattern.  I think the Seattle area will eventually get some more substantial rain pretty soon.

There is certainly evidence of a pattern that is the opposite of a GOA high by later next week.   And "eventually get some more substantial rain pretty soon" is very vague and sort of contradictory.    I think its safe to say there will be meaningful rain in September... which is climo of course.

Would not surprise me at all if September ends up warmer than normal.   Maybe wetter than normal too... with some humid periods.   September 2013ish?

I am getting that sense right now... but it could just be indigestion.  🤔

With meteorological summer ending in about a week, we can certainly start to think about turning the page and focus on fall. Some may not like it, but I’m looking forward to it.

Its a slow evolution of course... like spring.

The ECMWF looks like it's hinting at some continental flavor to the cool air mass just after day 7.  Very interesting.

Is the EPS too cold as well like the GFS with the 3 straight days of mid-uppers 40s for the lows ? Something we haven’t seen since early June! 😉

That is the GEFS... but it will very much depend on cloud cover of course.

00Z ECMWF shows lows in the 52-54 degree range for Seattle next week.

Yeah, I’m just asking what the EPS is showing or is it not out yet?

I won't make it for that one tonight... that chart for the EPS does not come out until after 1 a.m.

The 12Z EPS also showed the trough and had lows in the low to mid 50s in Seattle next week.
