Some great news.  The disastrous Bootleg Fire is now contained according to local authorities!

Unfortunately though, the Portland forecast keeps the heat going for the time-being.  The region/state really needs some rain.  Washington will be getting rain, but Oregon (at least Portland) doesn't appear to be seeing that relief.  The forecast even gets hotter towards the end.  Lets hope this trends cooler.

Wow!  90?!  Where were you at?  That is insane how different it is a few 100 miles away.  It is 58F in some part of Washington State.  Big temp divide.

Aumsville OR . We are in a separate valley from the Willamette at the butt end of the 'Santiam canyon.  Often I've seen the west end of town be ABSOLUTELY dumped on while our end just light showers and sunbreaks while you can see the dark clouds nearby.  Most rain avoids us unless it's a region wide event.

Might be time to fire up this sub-forum... Maybe a good spot for folx who don't believe the PNW is Seattle to Bellingham, east to the Cascade Crest.

Hit 34 this morning before the south wind kicked in. Up to 41 now.

Thursday still looks to have a decent chance of snow up here. Still a long way from Oregon ski resorts being able to think about opening.

I’m surprised the models haven’t taken away the Thursday system yet. Still a good chance they do, but right now it looks good for an inch or two up here. Maybe a mix at the top of the west hills.

Oregon couldn't quite break any heat records in the last heat wave of 2021.  Article

Now officially for the first time, Washington has a higher hotel temp than Oregon. Washington's prior high was 118F, but they beat that with a 120F.  Wow.

The State Climate Extremes Committee has verified a tied all-time Oregon maximum temperature record of 119°F at Pelton Dam & Moody Farms Agrimet on 29 June 2021. This ties the old record of 119°F at Prineville, OR on July 29, 1898 & Pendleton, OR on Aug 10, 1898. 2/5

I truly have no idea.  Oregonian's were upset their posts were always overlooked in the main PNW weather thread. So I made the topic... and no one uses it. ;D  Lol.

This little funnel cloud was spotted today near Harrisburg, Oregon.  Thankfully it remained small and never touched the ground.  Harrisburg is located just north of Eugene in Linn County.

Two funnel clouds were spotted near Hillsboro today as well.

I was biking at the edge of that downpour so I didn't get the really heavy rain, but there were some interesting clouds.

I'm sure that bike ride would have turned for the crazy if you saw the funnel clouds, lol.

Heatwave is about to hit Oregon.  Figured I would update it in the ORE WX Thread.  Extended length of days over 90 in Portland.

Medford is worse with a streak of 100 plus going.

To cool off, Oregonian's need to head to the coast.  Temps range from low 70s to 60s.  Much better.

Wildfires are pretty tame right now.  We'll see how it turns out this time next week.  There is currently only one fire that is over 1000 cars in Washington and Oregon combined.  There are, at the moment, no significant fires in either state.  All of the 'bigger' brush fires in Washington have been contained or controlled.  Oregon has a few uncontrolled fires, but all under 100 acres and one 1000 acre plus brush fire near Ontario.

No smoke over Washington or Oregon.

Oregon roasted today, all across the state except for the coast.

Portland, Eugene, Salem, Medford all topped 100F or more.

The 10-day forecast is not looking friendly to the majority of residents who don't have air conditioning.  The Willamette Valley truly is becoming a hot spot.
