Yes, October 25.

80+ weather returns by mid next week on the Euro. Fall is nowhere close yet.

The summer dryness is clearly not going to extend anywhere near that far. Those calls are gonna bust. The arrival of fall rains looks right on time this year, and in fact may be more bountiful than usual for September.

There are almost always warm, sunny days in early fall.

Mid to upper 80s return here once again on the 12z GFS.

1974 analog looking great.

Yeah that was a pretty lackluster winter. Some sort of anafrontal setup at night looks like it dropped a few inches that quickly melted the next day in Jan 1975.

Atleast the warm weather shouldn’t lead to more fire concerns after this weekend.

1974-75 was wet and slightly above average up here, there were two decent snow events in January and one in February. 75-76 was better.

That September 1974 heatwave has to be on the short list of most anomalous non June 2021 heatwaves on record here. 6 straight 90+ at PDX, 7 at SLE, 8 at EUG (including 14 straight at 85+) is pretty bonkers for late September.

That was one very frustrating winter. The snow levels were sooo close, but my 400’ location at the time was not quite good enough.

Meanwhile... we ran out of room to put snow from the driveway that winter.   It got too high!

Definitely the most impressive late September event, only 1952 is kinda comparable (with another really impressive event in early October).

Might have to go for a walk Friday night to soak in the blustery, cool fall air.

Need to add to my checklist…

Fire up generator and make sure all is a go!

Make sure chainsaw is ready to roll!
Run by the lake and make sure the boat lines and cover are secure!
