This pattern is gonna get itself stuck. Probably won’t be much in the way of North American cold for the next 3-4 weeks.

Am more optimistic for a real Alaska/GOA block during the second half of October.

I loved that guys enthusiasm. You could tell he actually loved wild weather like heavy snow, strong winds, etc. unlike some other local mets (looking at you, Rich Marriott). It was refreshing and usually caused me to tune into his forecast over others even though he might let that enthusiasm cloud his forecasting judgment.

There is a local on air met that seems to play the Rich card. I wont fault them, some people are genuinely Tim like in their distain for anything that would bring cheer to a child or joy to a snow map addict.

Steve Pool was always fun to watch, just so much joy and excitement.

Looking at the 12z reminds me of some nice chilly early October troughs. We've had some good ones over the years.

One that stands out to me was the one in early October 2011, we had a 47/42 day on the 5th. Of course the greatest of early October troughs was in 1949. Silver Falls ran off the following on the 5th-9th. Being a few hundred feet higher, I would guess our location saw some snow during this stretch...

46/41

45/34

36/34

39/33

43/30

I need to fix that later this week.

Did you ever fix your dying weather station or replaced it? You made a thread a bit ago saying you had some issues with your Accurite which is what we have also.  It started dying on us and it turned out a bunch of spiders had crawled around in it during the hot summer.

PDX has already locked up a wetter than average September for the 6th time in the last 9 years. A stretch that includes two of the wettest on record in 2013 and 2019.

Been a productive month for us recently, and it looks like we'll add to that a bit more this year with more rain coming next week.

Did you ever fix your dying weather station or replaced it? You made a thread a bit ago saying you had some issues with your Accurite which is what we have also.  It started dying on us and it turned out a bunch of spiders had crawled around in it during the hot summer.

Oh yeah, the control board died. All of the sensors still work, so I'll probably part those out for some fun projects. AcuRite is sending a new station out, but I am probably going to buy something from Ambient to run as backup. I'm kind of looking forward to having two sources of data and getting them averaged out.

46/41

45/34

36/34

39/33

43/30

Climo: 65/40

One of the best things that someone can experience is a hot cup of coffee on a brisk and sunny morning surrounded by flashes oranges and golds.

That section of Renton is always underrated.

When I mentioned Renton, people always assumed it’s some ghetto a** place with horrible traffic (part of it is true) but the area is actually quite beautiful.

Looks like we will see more rain to close out September. Maybe when we get back from our trip across America in Mid-October we will be able to burn the slash piles.

Where are you headed?

I'll be in New England for roughly two weeks in October and close out in GA/SC for a few days.

Oklahoma/Missouri, and then South Dakota and Montana for about 4-5 days, so not quite all the way across America.
