Hopefully this double-dip nina can produce something meaningful down this way. We've has 2 duds in a row (which happens plenty of times) but 3 duds in a row would be somewhat unusual.

Many people that live in the same county as Crater Lake haven't seen it!

Same with Silver Falls yet Silver Falls is like half middle east people and Asians that have never been to the US before and they out of all places come there.  People in our old church in Silverton most have never been to Silver Falls not even once.

My wife lived in K-Falls until she was 14 and only went there once on a field trip in 4th grade, she said it was foggy and they couldn't even see the lake.

Taking vacations and going long distance on the road is a luxury for some families. Often my folks would get one day off then go back and work more than a week straight. Not to mention they hardly ever had banker hours. Retail sucks.

Word. The first year I lived in Oregon after I married my first wife, we only had 4 days off the entire year together. I worked doubles on weekends, and she worked Monday-Friday.

Just finished my first class, discrete math. Professor doesn’t even have a syllabus yet but we did manage to start with some of the material. The textbook PDF is easily available for free online, and it should be usable for the class, so hopefully that’s some money saved right there.

3 50% of normal rainfall winters in a row has never happened before in Northern Cal so I am optimistic for more action this winter.

The space needle is a tourist thing, doesn’t interest me at all. Been to Rainier, Olympics, Columbia Gorge, etc. many times and would be a lot more surprised by native northwesterners who hadn't seen those places than hadn’t been in the space needle.

Biggest Oregon outdoor landmark I haven’t been to yet is probably Smith Rock

It's really cool. One of the first things I did after graduating high school was drive down there with my bud and check it out. There's a steep hike to the top with sweeping views all over. While filling up in Madras on the way home we saw a huge, fat moth at the gas station. Big orange one.

Just signed up for the OSU adventure club, makes club hikes and outdoor activities almost free. Apparently they do climbing trips out that way sometimes so I’ll probably get to see it sooner or later.

Even 14-15 had above average rainfall - just of course without any meaningful snow. Both kinds of precip epicly lacked this past year.

Looks like things are rapidly drying from the NW.  Maybe in time to give us a shot at a chilly night in some places.  By the looks of the models I'll be very surprised if my area makes it two more weeks without dropping into the 30s for the first time.

The 18z GFS gets pretty real.  Sub 540 thicknesses late in the run with 850s dropping below zero.
