this storm is taking the perfect track with the area under the comma head fully over our area. Cant wait to see how this storm turns out in the next 2-3 future cycles! #futureblizzard

Lezak seems very excited about this storm and I think for good reason.

The fury of nature was captured by our local photographer @NickUlivieri....the lake was rockin' yesterday!

Wow that is some nice pictures. Here on this side of the lake the winds did not get that high winds did gust up into the low 30 MPH range but even on the east side of the state that was it.

There is a big drop off in the average temperatures over the next 6 days. The average H/L starts out at 56.1/39.1 today and by Sunday it drops to 54.0/37.5. The overnight low here at my house was 34 and there was some frost this AM the official overnight low at GRR was 37. The grass is growing by the day and I will have to cut it once again. Not sure how many more times I grass will have to be cut this fall yet. And most of the leaves are still on the trees this is one of the latest if not the latest I have seen this many leaves still in the trees this late in the fall. I moved to the Grand Rapids area in 1984 and the other years that may have been this late are 2016, 2012 and 1995. Of course before I moved here I lived in Bay City and Alpena and in Bay City the leaves would be off the trees well before Halloween  and in Alpena there would be years when the trees were bare before mid October.

Boy, did that turn out to be one heckova day for MO...quite the number of tornado reports... @Clintonany near your area?  I read that  @clintbeed1993had one track near his place.  Been quite a while since you've experienced an outbreak like this.

image.png

I am surprised no blue wind damage in MI, since GRR had an AFD blurb that there was some localized damage near South Haven that was totally unexpected. Mentioned it was likely due to gravity waves aloft causing high winds to mix down.

No Central Tx will her it’s share of wind and heavy rain this evening as the front literally blows through.
Should hit from 1am to 7am.  The wind has been blowing hard all day and a lot more ahead.  I just hope it’s worth the wait.
Temps will settle into the 70’s for a week.  Looking forward to that!

Did not get outta the 40s today under a mostly cloudy day. October living its name I guess. Very blustery day.

Btw: nice cooldown coming early next week.

NOAA:
Broad cyclonic flow and deformation axis across the lower Great
Lakes will fuel the development of numerous to widespread rain
showers Friday through Friday night as the closed low continues its
slow churn into the eastern Tennessee Valley. Secondary coastal low
development off the east coast will be the kicker to finally lift
the upper low east of the region by Saturday afternoon, with a
return to dry conditions for the remainder of the weekend as quasi-
zonal flow sets up over the region. Seasonal temps will continue
into the weekend, with some signal in long range guidance for a cold
shot for the middle to end of next week.

Looks like another storm is brewing for later this week. Have to wait and see on how close it gets. As for now, looks like the brunt of the rain could bypass SMI. It will still rain, but not as much as we got w yesterdays major rainstorm.

I know. But I'm already freezing my a$$ with sunny and mid-40s. Not really ready for anything more harsh so soon after Augtober. What happened to Autumn, anyways?? Is that still a season, lol?

Most models have Cedar Rapids only getting 0.5-0.6" of rain out of this next system as the heavier stuff will be west.  It will take a day to get that much, so it will be very light.  The October wet pattern really delivered.

With a low of 31 I now have the first freeze of this fall season and with that the first widespread frost. So while not yet a "hard" freeze this was none the less a freeze. So far the official overnight low at GRR is also 31. At this time it is 31 here with clouds noted to the north.

We were shut out.  Light rain. There were some heavy storms south of DFW but this wasn’t anything to write home about.  🙃

SE Tx on the La line north of Houston was just issued a tornado warning and severe storms, possible local flooding.
appears it decided to pick up steam as it entered that heavy Gulf sir.

Most of the trees still have leaves on them this is one of the latest it has gotten with this many leaves on the trees. And it looks like most will have to cut the grass at least one more time. Of note there are still a lot of leaves on the trees even in the UP

Thanks to the major Nor'Easter on the EC, it kept SMI cloudy and dismal all day. Highs did manage to get into the mid 50s.

What is extroardinary about this system is the fact that it is encompasing such a vast part of the nation, all the way from the Canadian border to the Gulf Coast.  Wild wx down near the Gulf with TOR watch's galore.  As this system continues to go neg tilt, energizing and taking on a massive comma shape on radar, this one will be remembered as the one system during this month that literally "bowled" its way SLOWLY...EAST  like a BEAST...

http://mesonet.agron.iastate.edu/current/mcview.phtml?prod=usrad&java=script&mode=archive&frames=75&interval=10&year=2021&month=10&day=27&hour=19&minute=0

Yesterday, there were High Wind Warnings issued over the plains of SE CO/SW KS and into NW TX with gusts up to 70mph!  Today, that moves E into TX...what an expansive wind producing system.

I went into Menards yesterday to buy some indoor window insulation to help with the drafts and they already had Christmas Decor on display...to early???  Never!  Hahaha, in a way though, I think you better shop early this year bc I gotta funny feeling that by Thanksgiving shelves could become empty with Christmas decor.  Seems like every year now the big stores want to put out the Christmas stuff before Halloween.
