SE Tx on the La line north of Houston was just issued a tornado warning and severe storms, possible local flooding.
appears it decided to pick up steam as it entered that heavy Gulf sir.

Lol, the place I grew up is in between the tornado warnings.

After 6 nights in the row with lows no warmer than 41 and most nights in the low to mid 30's the overnight low here was a milder 50 the official overnight low looks to have been 49 at GRR. There was a period of drizzle/mist here last night. At this time it is cloudy and 51 here. The mean for October is now down to 57.9 that is still a departure of +5.7.

Speaking of wind, this is impressive as I've never seen it captured on vid...a very strong TOR in TX picked up a car like a twig and launched it in the air!  Holy crap.

I'm assuming no one was in that??!! Haha my goodness. That is wild. I wonder what road that is. I was just down in that area in July.

Currently 57* at 7:52am.  Clear, brilliant skies.  We’ll see a low of 44* freakin’ degrees mañana!  Finally! Fall arrived!

Yesterday’s  line of storms delivered a F2 twister East of Houston. My house received .75” rain. Much appreciated.

Yup, in Orange. That's the last town on I-10 before you cross into Louisiana. Drove through there many times on trips to New Orleans. That video looks like it was taken on I-10.

What is extroardinary about this system is the fact that it is encompasing such a vast part of the nation, all the way from the Canadian border to the Gulf Coast.  Wild wx down near the Gulf with TOR watch's galore.  As this system continues to go neg tilt, energizing and taking on a massive comma shape on radar, this one will be remembered as the one system during this month that literally "bowled" its way SLOWLY...EAST  like a BEAST...

http://mesonet.agron.iastate.edu/current/mcview.phtml?prod=usrad&java=script&mode=archive&frames=75&interval=10&year=2021&month=10&day=27&hour=19&minute=0

Yesterday, there were High Wind Warnings issued over the plains of SE CO/SW KS and into NW TX with gusts up to 70mph!  Today, that moves E into TX...what an expansive wind producing system.

I went into Menards yesterday to buy some indoor window insulation to help with the drafts and they already had Christmas Decor on display...to early???  Never!  Hahaha, in a way though, I think you better shop early this year bc I gotta funny feeling that by Thanksgiving shelves could become empty with Christmas decor.  Seems like every year now the big stores want to put out the Christmas stuff before Halloween.

Actually, that radar looks very much like the Halloween storm of 1991 which also had a stream of moisture from the Gulf to Canada.

I was surprised to see DTX calling for up to 1" around here. Wayne county moisture magnet in full effect. Thought this would be a whiff to my south tbh.

Good sign for the upcoming Winter! 😉

Just under 2" of rain has fallen in MBY from this system. Very impressive on satellite as others have noted with a near perfect track for my area. Should be an interesting winter and severe weather season with all of these recent systems to track in future cycles!

i was a bit worried with the low totals yesterday from what the models were showing but this defo band is really brining in the moisture and raising these totals. Makes me excited to see what this does in future cycles when we are in the comma head

Comma head looks great!  I like how slow this storm is moving and how long we stay in the comma head.

@Clinton @Jayhawker85 just drove from Topeka to Olathe to my son's place. The real action was Topeka to Lawrence area...strong gusty winds and heavier rain. East of Lawrence much lighter rain and wind. Boy this would make an epic snowstorm. Hope it calms down a bit as I'll be making the return trip in the dark...lol

I see they have some High Wind Warnings over your way.  Your right about it making a heck of a snow storm down the road, lets hope things line up for it.  We know it never comes easy for our area.

I feel like the cold is having a hard time making it south this year.  I know it's early.  But being the eternal pessimist I am, I'm worried we'll have the storms, but not the cold.

If we were anywhere else I wouldn't even blink at predicting a snowy Winter but we have seen a thing or two when it comes to getting missed by snowstorms.

We’ve had nothing but wind all day.
40 mph gusty wind.  Enough.
Temps going down.  Could see 44* tonight.  .

That would be a real stab bud! Iirc, it has happened in previous years and has cause a lot of disappointment during the colder months. I sometimes wonder that if getting such great storm tracks now is something that would be bad for our Winter down the road.

Here at my house I recorded 0.23" of rain fall. The overnight low here was 50 and it is still 50 at this time with light rain falling. This has been a very warm and wet October and it will be a top ten warmest at all locations. At this time it is the warmest at Muskegon with a mean of 59.1. also the warmest at Lansing with a mean of 58.6 At Holland it is the 2nd warmest October with a mean of 59.1 the record is a reported 61.1 in 1947. At Grand Rapids it is down the list at 7th place with a mean of 57.8. in case anyone was wondering 1947 was a very warm October area wide. Snow fall for the winter of 1947/48 was Grand Rapids 64.4, Muskegon 70.3, Holland 71.0 and Lansing 50.0. January and March were the snowiest months at all locations. That is with November thru March temperatures all being well below average. While that winter was much colder than average snow fall was below average.
