Cloud
This is quite an impressive airmass. With the low of 39 this morning, we were in the record lows territory. Tonight should produce some record lows for many places. SEA is also running an impressive streak right now for the 1st half of Oct. yesterday was 7 straight days of highs in the 50s and 8 out of 11. All of Oct is at or below normal for the lows. This streak looks to keep going at least for the next week. Going to be a cold month.

Timmy Supercell
2021 never ceases to amaze. I get a fog on July 28 but can't get fog in October. The 3 years of drought we had 2013-2015 produced a lot of Fall fogs (including all-day fog). I'm starting to forget when I last had one down here. 1 Quote Ashland, KY Weather '23-'24 Winter Snowfall - 5.50" First freeze: 11/1 (32) Minimum: 2 on 1/17 Measurable snows: 4 Max 1 day snow: 3" (1/19) Thunders: 11 1/27, 1/28, 2/10, 2/22, 2/27, 2/28, 3/5, 3/6, 3/14, 3/15 3/26, ------------------------------------------------------- [Klamath Falls, OR 2010 to 2021] https://imgur.com/SuGTijl

Only thing I take issue with is the description of the processes culminating in the formation of the PV. It’s actually a thermal wind response to differential heating, not a “pressure drop”. Which is then perpetuated by the dissociation of O3 within the frigid PV environment, further sharpening said thermal gradient and accelerating zonal wind.
