Timmy Supercell
November makes sense for Minneapolis. Occasionally some of their greatest severe wx events happen at the very tail end of summer. One in particular I remember from 9/21/2005, a large tornado happened pretty close to the mall. Someone still has videos (in 4 parts) of the approaching storm. 1 Quote Ashland, KY Weather '23-'24 Winter Snowfall - 5.50" First freeze: 11/1 (32) Minimum: 2 on 1/17 Measurable snows: 4 Max 1 day snow: 3" (1/19) Thunders: 11 1/27, 1/28, 2/10, 2/22, 2/27, 2/28, 3/5, 3/6, 3/14, 3/15 3/26, ------------------------------------------------------- [Klamath Falls, OR 2010 to 2021] https://imgur.com/SuGTijl

Had a blast watching it snow at 6400’ near mount bachelor on September 19th this year. That’s fairly early but don’t think that it’s incredibly uncommon for snow in the second half of September above 5000’. I believe on 10/8/2019 there was snow as low as 900’ in the cascades that’s probably about as close as you can get to low elevation snow in September. 1 Quote Tacoma WA elevation 300’ Monthly rainfall-3.56” Warm season rainfall-11.14” Max temp-88 +80 highs-2 +85 highs-2 +90 highs-

Cloud
Cohen’s thoughts and blog on the SSW peaking around October 25. Seems to suggest early SSW’s in Oct/Nov will lead to something very significant during mid-winter. This is quite exciting. Definitely worth the read. https://www.aer.com/science-research/climate-weather/arctic-oscillation/ Also this thread regarding weak SSW in Oct/Nov leading to a more significant one later.
