No doubt the winter of 1976-77 is a great winter though, and you definitely experienced a top tier event for so early in the season.

SilverFallsAndrew
I did not sufficiently recognize how anomalously cold today's high of 47.5 was. Silver Falls record for the date is (was?), 50 set in 2013. Two nearby stations hit 46 and 47 respectively, so there is probably a pretty good chance the official station topped the record. Overall a -9 departure today. 1 Quote Snowfall Precip 2022-23: 95.0" 2022-23: 17.39" 2021-22: 52.6" 2021-22: 91.46" 2020-21: 12.0" 2020-21: 71.59" 2019-20: 23.5" 2019-20: 58.54" 2018-19: 63.5" 2018-19: 66.33" 2017-18: 30.3" 2017-18: 59.83" 2016-17: 49.2" 2016-17: 97.58" 2015-16: 11.75" 2015-16: 68.67" 2014-15: 3.5" 2013-14: 11.75" 2013-14: 62.30 2012-13: 16.75" 2012-13: 78.45 2011-12: 98.5" 2011-12: 92.67" It's always sunny at Winters Hill! snow_wizard
I'm pretty confident that for SEA (records back to 1945) the only Octobers that had a colder first half than this one will be were 1946 and 1949. Pretty good company there! For those who don't know 1946-47 was a decent cold winter with nice events in November and January. Going further back the only one I know for sure that was colder than this month for the first half was October 1916. Another cold winter. Although I haven't added them up 1955, 1973, 1981, and 1990 also appear to be in the top 10 for coldest first half of October. It also appears this will be at least a near record streak of sub 60 highs for so early in the season. Temps around 40 in the heart of the afternoon and some mixing in the foothills. We’re getting closer! Yup! Was about to say... 6z wants to keep this entire month downright chilly. Kids might have to bundle up an extra layer for Halloween. 2

Interestingly the longest streak I have found is from October 1968. The other day I didn’t have my statistics with me when I thought we only had 2 or 3 days in the 60s in October 2019…was wrong actually. We had 7 total highs in the 60s that month only 2 so far this month. Plenty of time to get a few more before the months over but the max high temps have been colder than 2019…mins have been warmer. Hopefully it works out for something interesting later this year and we can get a 6th year in a row with atleast 1” of snow this winter. Joshua Lake Oswego
The 00z Euro operational bowed to the GFS and really backed down on the QPF for next week. The ensembles are quite a bit drier through the run too. This weekend is looking quite unimpressive. Maybe .25'' - .50'' for most of the lowlands from Eugene to Seattle. Just calling it like I see it. Vancouver Island is going to get absolutely hosed in the next 7-10 days. So close, but so far.
