As I mentioned earlier the times we really get hit is when a secondary low pinwheels around the parent. I think Columbus Day may have been an exception to that. The CDS ejected out of the base of a massive EPAC trough. I think it was kind of a hybrid in that sense, plus it had insane pressure rises on the backside of the warm front which coupled perfectly with the efficient mid fall mixing of the low/mid levels. 2 Quote My preferences can beat up your preferences’ dad. Yeah without sharp pressure rises and/or significant cold/dry advection it’s harder to mix down stronger winds to the surface. Convection is probably the best bet. Sometimes in WAA regimes we can have a screaming 70+kt LLJ just a few thousand feet off the surface and only 20-30mph will mix down. 3 Quote Live Weather Cam: https://www.youtube.com/live/KxlIo8-KVpc?si=xKLCFYWbZieAfyh6 PWS Wunderground https://www.wunderground.com/dashboard/pws/KMDBETHE62 PWS CWOP/NOAA: https://www.weather.gov/wrh/timeseries?site=F3819&hours=
