About to go over 1” back at home. Raining pretty decently here in anacortes I think I’ll be able to make the 6:30 ferry out to the island. God I hope I can catch the Aurora up there this weekend. Will be looking out for it!

Idk that AR we had back in December 2019 was pretty heavy. We got clobbered that time in Tacoma.

More than 10/20/2003?     Seems like it was about 5 times as heavy that day.  😀

Euro weeklies look interesting around mid month. Control run also gets real cold as we head into the third week of next month as well. Something is brewing...

The overall progression this fall does feel like a white Thanksgiving is incoming.

1.18 in the bucket here…..had to go out during the worst of it.  Streets were flooded everywhere with backed up drains.  One puddle water was up to the base of my doors and no way to go around as it was the whole street!   One car did loose power in it and tow truck had to fetch them.  Rain rate down to .04 now.

When it is supposed to hit?    It should be basically clear from late afternoon tomorrow through the weekend.

HRRR shows another round of torrential rain early tomorrow morning as the back edge gets organized as it moves south.

It looks like they are projecting Kp7 for Saturday.  It will definitely be worth monitoring.

Note that the forecasts from NASA use UTC (aka Greenwich time) days. Midnight in Greenwich is 5:00 pm here, so tomorrow night is the time.

I noticed rain against the north facing windows here which usually means the end of these type of events... but apparently not this time.   SEA has dropped to 52 now with a NW wind.

Yeah, so here’s the current forecast for our time (PDT) where “tomorrow” corresponds to Friday and “after tomorrow” to Saturday. Looks like best time to see it could be early Saturday morning (ie tomorrow night), although the last storm arrived a number of hours later than they forecast so Saturday evening could hypothetically be better.

For those unfamiliar, the higher the number the more likely you can see it. 7 is almost certainly visible throughout Washington.

At least the ground isn’t completely saturated like it gets later in winter. Better now than in mid-February (though I’m sure it’ll happen then too). Today feels wet, but it’s nowhere near the 3.6” we got in only 12 hours earlier this year.
