November and December 1996 performed well in the PNW. 😀

One of those winters where we weren’t part of the region.

I don’t think there has ever been a SSW in October. The earliest legit *attempt* at one was Nov/early Dec 1996, IIRC.

What would be the potential outcomes of this? I'd assume some cold loading would be present, but question is how much cold would be actually available in early-mid November.

Personally I like the idea of holding any SSW event off until mid-late November. 2-5 weeks later and North America reaps the awards, and we're in business. Get a late October SSW and we blow our load on November 10th.

I keep forgetting January 1996 actually had more snowfall than January 1993. Although 92-93 was a bigger winter.

The best part about FB being down is that FB going on Twitter to let the world knows that FB is down. 😏

It's weird. For the first time in years I can't go to the weather groups I run for PDX/PNW and Texas, Oklahoma. Over 12,000 members. I also cannot promote my music, interact with brands and companies(I make custom songs for) which is my livelihood. So whereas Facebook overall is pretty horrid as is social media nothing more than a breeding ground of misinformation, incivility, and division, this is very problematic for me to say the least. By the way, I do not consider this forum, nor my weather groups as social media they are more of a weather community without the BS and plague of incivility.

I bet moving to Kentucky will tighten a few screws for Winter in the northwest! I still want to be a member here but perhaps limit my postings so I don't make it too irrelevant.

Someone is playing tricks... that can't be snow from today.   That is as likely as there being pics of snow from Seattle today.    It can't snow on a 74/55 day with a unusually warm air mass.    😀

Time for a radar replay! Anyone have one for the hours of 2am to 6am central time? They said it fell sometime during that period!

They are playing tricks.   It was basically a summer day there today.   Nobody in MN would complain about winter cutting fall short with this weather...

Was there fog? I have on a very rare occasion seen fog produce flurries without the presence of echoes. But we're talking twice over the course of a decade rare.

Could be? But Tim says no. They said it melted right after sunrise!

It just makes no sense that there would be sticking snow in Minnesota with this warm air mass in early October.    Two hours to the north of Ham Lake in Duluth the low was 52 this morning.

The Twin Cities NWS would have tweeted about snow reports... but all they have been talking about is the unusually warm summer-like weather.    Snow is the furthest thing from their mind right now.  😀

No idea... maybe it was not a recent pic.    Looked like the grass was covered too.

They should send it to the Twin Cities NWS and let them figure it out.

Just checked the ECMWF... 850mb and 925mb temps across Minnesota were around +12C to +14C this morning.   I don't think its physically possible to have accumulating snow with those parameters.

For comparison... the 850mb temp was +7C and the 925 temp was +8C in Seattle this morning.    So it was much closer to snowing here.  😀
