Gonna start a new tradition this Thanksgiving now that my girls are out of High School and have boyfriends that love the outdoors.

We will be finding a place on the East side or the mountains and set up a camp with wall tents and woodstoves.

Turkey day will be traditional as I have all the Dutch ovens and accessories to prepare a feast.

Hoping for some real winter weather to round out the ambiance!

Might even spend some time tracking Cougars as we all have tags. Cougar steaks are very tasty.

Are you on the east side of the mountains to reduce the chances of rain?

May I recommend the north fork John Day river area above Dale.

Wet deck now! Came home at lunchtime today and cleaned my gutters in preparation for the wetfest coming in!

Currently 48 degrees.

Yesterday pushed SEA over 3" for the month at 3.08", next couple of days is going to push it over the 4" territory, which would be above normal (3.91").

The GFS is anything but unbridled zonal flow.  Tons of blocking and suppression for so early in the season

I was looking at the peak winds for SEA just a little bit ago and was pretty impressed by the past 4 days.

Lol, we have gotten 4.3" of rain alone this week so far, gonna be well past 7" of rain by Friday night, maybe even close to or over 8" of rain.  One week.

Your area definitely averages a lot more rain though as I’m sure you know. I remember you having some pretty nuts rain totals the last 2 Januaries.

The gap between the Pacific High and the Aleutian block closes around Nov 10 on this run.  That can easily bring cold to our region shortly thereafter.

Very dynamic pattern for week two on this run.  Should be lot of wind, snow in the mountains, and raw conditions for the lowlands.

Some lowland snow on this run.  Very classic La Nina pattern being shown, but more like what you would normally see deeper into the cold season.

Things have really been quite active lately.

Also weakening. Had several small branches  fell on my car this morning from overnight . But the recent winds is doing a number on the leaves around here. Some young maple trees are now bare and drains needs to be clear fairly soon.

Will be a big change from this fairly mild rain we are getting now. Highs well down into the 40s up here. Raw is right.

Some days are shown to be in the upper 30s in places well into the day as we get into that active cold period.  This looks so 1970 at this point.
