SeaTac is doing weird stuff right now. Extra runway, elevated observation deck, whatever you want to blame it on; either way it warmed up to 48F on the 10pm observation, roughly 6-8F warmer than any surrounding station. It'll crash like a rock later I bet.

SEA doing SEA things. 😂

Completely different at BFI. Got down to 41 at the 10pm obs but have slightly jumped to 43 last few minutes.

I think they are going to stay really thin for most places.  That far north they may get a bit thicker.

I’d imagine clouds will be pretty thick up this way before sunrise.  It’s supposed to start raining tomorrow morning.  Though it’s not like I live that far north.  The longitude here is actually south of Bellingham

I noticed very thin high clouds here.  The UW site is down for some reason so I can't check out the satellite pic but I think the clouds are going to hold my area up before it freezes.  Currently 36 with high clouds moving in,

Clouds absolutely should hold of. You're probably just seeing some passing high clouds.

You are right!  I do see the blob of very thin clouds way ahead of the main cloud bands moving over our area on their  way to the SE.  Thanks

37 degrees and a full blown fire in the stove.  Doesn't get any better than that in early October.

Aurora Borealis was clearly visible to the naked eye here with strong green pillars dancing across the sky. The peak was around 9:30, but it's faded quite a bit and now it's really only visible with a camera. I'll upload some photos when I get them onto my computer.

I'll be very surprised if you don't drop to freezing.  The high clouds are dissipating rapidly as they get close to us.

The 0z GFS puts us right back into the cold pattern after maybe a week or a little bit less of ridging.  If we were to manage an Arctic outbreak at the end of the month this would have a great shot at coldest October ever recorded.  At any rate the first half is basically historic as it is.

Was hard to make out but could actually see the slight green glow especially looking NNW. First time I’ve ever seen it with my own eyes would’ve been cool to drive somewhere to see it but was unsure of if it would actually appear tonight so didn’t go anywhere to see it. Unfortunately the lights from Seattle muted it but could still see it!

Do you have proof of the naked eye viewing?  Cuz I have not seen any other personal accounts of that.  Not saying you didn't but here hasn't been much of anything to back that up, and not just from this forum.

Haven't seen the aurora tonight while working around Bothell. I didn't know it was out either. Anyone still seeing it?

It also appears SEA has a great chance at setting a record for most consecutive days with a high below 60 for this early in the season.  I'm still looking into that.

A record low of 39 seems like some low hanging fruit. SLE s record low is like 28. I haven’t looked, but ours is probably in the mid 20s at least. Our average low is around what SEA s record is lol. How thrilling. Nice crisp weather, but it’s not THAT exciting.

I mean I don't know how to prove that, but I can show you this time lapse from Skunkbay Weather. This camera is less sensitive than the human eye at night and you can see it (although not particularly impressively) at the end of the video. I mean it certainly wasn't the brightest I've ever seen and not like any of the pictures make it appear, but it was enough to make reflections on the Sound.

To address your statement. This is an anomalously chilly airmass, even down here. But it doesn’t have the low dew points one would associate with a truly notable October cold snap. The willamette valley can record some fairly impressive lows in October, but low dew points are key. I suspect a number of spots in the valley could underachieve tonight because of low clouds and patchy fog. I’m sure the usually cold spots will do fine.

Take a look at our trends from the past couple years and you'll have your answer. We are an awful location for exciting weather anymore.

Unless you like a lot of hot and dry weather from April-Sept.
