I am enjoying the mild days.  The rest of the week looks great, too.  Once we get solidly into December, bring on the cold and snow.

Was my thoughts too back in Oct when summer didn't want to leave. When it leaves, it don't look back..

For the month of November Grand Rapids is now at 9.7" this is above the average for November of 7.1" It should be noted that the November record at Grand Rapids is 31.0 set in 2014. Full on sunshine this morning, and lack of an actual CF passage kept temps up overnight. Only dipped to 32F right after sunrise. Then up from there to 40F, so no finishing Nov with a stretch of 30's. Still, a flip month from October, and we made it all the way to see two decent snow events.

DTX mentioned how last winter did NOT act like a La Nina. Maybe this winter will make up for that.

Would be nice to see ground temps lower too. Not a fan of snow melting so easily as it did today. Easy come, easy go this time of season ofc, so not griping. We've been lucky to see some early snow vs most. Cheers to our luck spilling over into December! Do you remember Dec's 07 and again 08??

Yes...I agree about ground temps being a little too warm. That sunshine today really did a number on our snowpack, but its okay because like you said in your statement above, it is still end of November, so its normal for that to happen. December ma friend will hopefully be a different story.

Amigo...December 07-08" was a nightmare, if you are a fan of Winter. You might wonder what the heck am I talking about, right. Well, that Winter, I was still in NYC and it was a very frustrating Winter season. Sleet after sleet after sleet, changing to rain, followed by colder air..and etc and etc. I am sure you get the picture. Probably was the opposite here in SMI because we were getting a lot of cutters at that time, so more snow for you guys. It got better though the follwing Winter and 2010-11 was a superb Winter in nyc. Blasted w huge snowstorms, especially the one on December26th, 2010.

November stats for KC:

Nov stats for KC: KC finished the month 2.9 degrees above normal which tied it for the 42nd warmest on the 134-year record. KC picked up 1.54" of precip which was 0.46" below normal and was the 58th driest year on record. KC only picked up a trace of snow...only 14 years had 0.0"

Here's my November stats from MBY.

Avg low: 33.0 (+2.8) Lowest min: 21.0 (25th)

Avg high: 55.0 (+4.7) Warmest high: 73.0 (16th)

+3.8 degrees for the month (8 out of 11 months above average so far this year)

.33" rain (-1.12" deficit)

Trace snowfall. Set 3 record highs at the airport.

I noticed last November was basically the same here as well with 32.3/55.2 for the average low and high and we only received .2" of snowfall. Then December came and the last 3 weeks of the month delivered 10" of snow, but we still ended up 4.5 degrees above normal for Dec '20. That's the way I like it, snowy and not bitterly cold, so I wouldn't mind a repeat of that this month.

Well, it's official. My first winter month here was an autumn month. 😁

Finished the month with a "normal" 30th, leaving the monthly stats like this:

Temps: -1.8F

Precip as liquid: 1.91"

Total Snowfall: 7.7"

Greatest Depth: 4.0"

(I actually did a little better in two snow events, thus my signature reflects such)
