Solar activities looks much better tonight than last night and as such, some visible northern lights. Still not far south enough. Or at least the tilt is not favorable.

Current live shot at Banff just before 1AM.

According to this, things gets quite interesting around mid-Nov, when the frames ends with GOA block in place. At least for us here on the west side. Second half of Nov could be quite fun.

Read the entire thread, there are 3.

Looking through old tweets and finding images I thought I had lost to the sands of time... This one's a good memory from 08/11/14 where unmodeled high based storms rolled in from the SSE after a 96°F high. Good times.

Here's another thunderstorm pic, this time from the morning of 08/02/2014. I actually woke up to these as they blossomed indiscriminately for a few hours in the late morning, one tiny popup storm after another. They blew up so fast you could see them form in real time from small buildup to tower. Plenty of lightning and I think Ballard and SeaTac got nailed by some large hail (maybe 0.5" diameter?). There may have been more storms that afternoon or not... my mind is fuzzy and I never put anything on twitter so it's difficult to say for sure.

Sorry for starting the November 2021 thread right off the bat with images from summer 2014, but I'm just really psyched that I was able to recover these images after I thought I had lost them. Plus the weather's pretty slow right now and the banter thread is mainly football/politics.

Aurorae typically dance around quite a bit. I remember seeing a video last winter of some Finnish folks looking outside during an event, it was wild looking

8 inches of rain over the next 16 days? Yikes. That be a drought reliever at least. I will gladly accept cold November rain though if that is what it will take to bring the goods down here for the first season in 3 years.

53 here this morning... and it looks like it will rain this afternoon.    ECMWF was much more consistent on that idea and better than the GFS

Looks pretty darn moist for K Falls November standards. It rains much much harder in Kentucky when it feels like it. When are you moving?

38F and it feels very cold out. It looks frosty on the plants and the fog is slowly burning off. Did not want to get up since our room was super cold. Coming down to the main area at 64 felt balmy by comparison. Time to scrape the ice.
