48 and mostly cloudy in Elko, NV! High of 50 looks like.

Got a night at another 3-in-one hotel, Casino/Restaurant/Inn! Lots of those around here.

Taking I80 so far is smooth, but once I get to Salt Lake City, UT may consider going south through Cedar City and taking I89 into Flagstaff.

Still in Nevada?   You are sure taking your time on this trip!   We would have pulled an all-nighter and been there the next day.  😀

Few of my pics from the Guano Valley (near OR/NV border, Lake County) couple days ago. I kept asking what that "line" is going up the mountain, soon to realize 140 took us up that. Kind of an lol but oh shoot moment.

If none of 89 does this we're okay!

It will certainly be interesting to see if the GFS is anywhere near correct about the huge rainfall totals on Friday.  One thing I will say is the ECMWF has been far from perfect lately so it's lower totals aren't a lock.

Looks like the bank lobbies here at least are open to customers. Oregon closed them again when we left there, after selling both the Nissan and Jeep I had to physically stand at US Bank's Drive thru (uHaul was 3" too big) to withdrawal money. Never did that in my life.

It's a trade off though, fast foods have their lobbies closed in NV. 🤡

Right now it appears that at the very least we will be seeing some kind of a modest cold snap next week.  Interestingly the control model on the GFS ensemble shows some Arctic air seeping in.

Yep me too. I was blowing leaves around and got mad it was taking so long so I went and bought the most powerful back pack blower from stihl and that thing will move a 3 pound rock! What was taking 20 minutes with old blower takes 5 now haha.

My Stihl has a lot of mileage on it! This is how I spent my lunch break! Been blowing twice a week so it’s not too bad and I can get the driveway and landscaped areas done in an hour. Could not imagine life without it! 😀

The satellite does not look like that kind of massive rain event is starting soon.

Depends where the famed "polar vortex" makes it to :).  Consistently I would take Klamath Falls over that state.  Plus, depends in Kentucky where you are.  Love the mountains there, hate the spine of the mountains.  Hmmm, sound familiar?

Yeah, not shaping up to be that impressive of a firehose. PWAT values will be high but the jet support for a major baroclinic band just isn't there. It looks like a pretty run of the mill fall storm, just coming on top of an already wet period so rivers will be high.

Ashland, KY is at the extreme northeastern end of the state. Basically West Virginia. They are easily going to do better for cold/snow than anywhere on the westside south of maybe Lynden.

That is a fact. I think only one winter in the last 130 years ever failed to do more than 1", but I believe a few days may be data gaps in that one.

Even in a drought you're guaranteed a few decent snows using Portland's standards for snow.
