Popular Post North_County
I've been trying to save battery. I flipped the main breaker on Monday morning when it looked like I was going to get water in the house. Power was cut to town around that time anyway. No idea when we'll get it back. I've got nowhere dry to put the generator in the meantime. Water a step-and-a-half from entering the house (it's in the garage), but hasn't risen for several hours now. I think i got lucky. From what I can tell, my neighborhood is probably the only one that was spared to this extent. Areas that were billed as "out of the floodplain" have water in them. Houses that have never even had floodwaters touch their yards....ever....have water in them and had to be evacuated. This is just absurd. I was finally able to see a picture of the business we own in town. It was dry in the largest flood of my lifetime in 1990, which was considered a 35-year-flood. There was violent, raging water easily 2 feet up the walls in the photo I saw, and I was told it got much worse later. By that standard, this is a what, 50-year flood? 100? My guess is the central business district is annihilated. I dont know what else to add. 12

Skagit Weather
Skagit River appears to still be climbing with a current height of just below 37' which puts this crest 4th all time currently. It's a little confusing because the NWS Advanced Hydrological Prediction Services site has crashed and keeps repeating erroneous data. USGS site shows 36.93' so I guess we'll go with that. Currently it appears as if all the levees are holding, but probably still 12+ hours to go at this high level. 2 Quote Home Wx Station Stats (Since January 2008): Max Temp: 96.3F (2009) Min Temp: 2.0F (2008) Max Wind Gust: 45 mph (2018, 2021) Wettest Day: 2.34 (11/4/22) Avg Yearly Precip: 37" 10yr Avg Snow: 8.0" Snowfall Totals '08-09: 30" | '09-10: 0.5" | '10-11: 21" | '11-12: 9.5" | '12-13: 0.2" | '13-14: 6.2" | '14-15: 0.0" | '15-16: 0.25"| '16-17: 8.0" | '17-18: 0.9"| '18-19: 11.5" | '19-20: 11" | '20-21: 10.5" | '21-22: 21.75" | '22-23: 10.0" 2023-24: 7.0" (1/17: 3", 1/18: 1.5", 2/26: 0.5", 3/4: 2.0", Flakes: 1/11, 1/16)
