We're working on the business today after finishing dealing with the house yesterday. The water exploded right at our shop once the rail embankment failed behind it. The damage to the parking lot is simply incredible. Completely ripped out and/or buckled in multiple places. Inside is a mess, and of course the biggest issue is the water damage to the walls. Not sure what's going to happen with the business to be honest. We rent the building, and not sure what the landlord wants to do with it. Kinda in limbo right now. It's mostly my wife's business, so she's pretty worked up about it. I still have my normal 9-to-5, which was unaffected, so we'll be fine. I'm guessing that was quite the "tsunami" of water that hit the building when those cars went over. Yeah, this town has really suffered. We had the flood in February 2020. Then the border closed down like three weeks later, which absolutely destroyed most businesses. And now this. The city confirmed that 100% of the businesses had water damage, and 75% of the residences. Just from what I've seen, probably 25% of all homes will be total gut jobs. Maybe much, much more. And in complete honesty, this is a pretty low-income area to begin with.
