Yeah its crazy. 3 of our last 4 winters have come down to a 2 week storm period and that's it. Hopefully this years wasn't the 1 week storm we had in Oct.

I'm seriously asking....Don't you think we should wait and see what this huge pattern change coming up looks like?  The models do agree on a big change.

Lets all move to Maine.

I tried....depending on your line of work the job market is tough there.  For me, 17 years in aerospace didn't cut it.  I used my network here to jump to a different industry (that has a better chance) and might have another go at it in 5 years or so.

For you guys probably. For us we have seen this pattern now going on 10 straight years. Models show a change at hour 240 and beyond. It gets delayed every run after that and all we get is another mega ridge popping up over us.

Edit: For instance 2 days ago models were showing cold and snow for us by Dec 5th and 6th. Now we have record warmth on those days and the snow has been pushed back to Dec 10th. In another 2 days I can almost guarantee that snow will be gone and be moved further out.

I like winters here. We just struggle these days to have an average one. Warm is the de facto regime.

I have thought about cashing out in Tahoe and moving to Spokane or Sand Point. In Spokane I could buy a house cash and work hobby jobs until retirement kicks in 20 years down the road. Or I could try to work remotely from SandPoint since it is pricier.

Spokane is less expensive. Housing prices are crazy in North Idaho. Plus, Idaho has a state income tax, and you pay sales tax on food.

I think getting a snow pattern at 6000’ at 44°N shouldn’t be too much to ask for seeing as December is 5 days away.

Amazing how fast that reversal happens in week two.  From an Eastern trough to an Eastern torch just like that.  A decent cold shot for us too. 😮

OMG the mood swings on here are insane.

If you lived down here you would feel differently and the outlook on winter weather would not be what you’re used to.

We have no snow in our Cascades. That’s very bad.

I lived in NH in the the early 2000s, 2000-2003.  Love New England, get a nice noreasta' and get buried up there.  I saw 42" from one storm when I was there.  gets super cold too.

I have a bad feeling about this winter too. It’s the day after thanksgiving and I have yet to see a flake in Redmond? I saw it snow in Bend on Tuesday this week but come on, this is central Oregon. I doubt we see any big snows this year. I’m thinking a couple 2” storms that melt in the afternoon. I’m with snowdrift, this moderate Niña isn’t good for the NW being it is a second year Niña.

If it’s not going to snow, let it be warm.
