Yes... the city of Seattle is straight up depressing now.   I don't even want to bring guests there.   Its absolutely embarrassing.    I pray that the people of Seattle are waking up now.

They need to clean house with city council. There all garbage.

Seems like this pattern is going to lock in for some time.

That is not true... I know plenty of natives who aren't planning on leaving.  At least as far as I know.

Most everyone who lives in the same area where they grew up inevitably complains about changes.   My relatives in MN do the same exact thing.   One of my co-workers was born and raised in Denver and he says everything has changed and he wants out.   Its universal.   The grass is always greener some place else.    But it's usually not.   Its just different.

Things change. Gotta roll with it.

Lived here my whole life, and honestly thus far don't see myself really moving away from the west coast. If I can ever afford it, would love to live in and around the Issaquah/Gold Bar area up in Washington, or even in the Bend area. I do love Portland and W. Oregon with all my heart but it would be nice for a change of atmosphere.

DID SOMEONE SAY GOLD BAR???

Lol I kid. Feel free to come on up. It's quiet, west side of town is low crime. Stay away from Pickle Farm Road. Weather is great. It's been a very windy fall, and talking to my neighbor has convinced me that my definition of windy isn't windy enough. "Wake me up when it's gusting to 60" was his quote.

We'll see what the snow totals are this year, but the town averages 18".

Or sometimes the same changes you see around you, which may objectively be undesirable, also apply to many other areas.

Things seem to be converging on that idea.  A white Christmas would be awesome.  It would move Seattle into the next percentile bracket on the White Christmas probability map.  That would make 1990, 2008, 2017, and 2021 in a little over 30 years.  Better than 10% chance.

A true snow wiz stat.

It's a gorgeous area-- absolutely stunning. As much as I think we all have our own individual problems with where we live our region is quite the jewel-encrusted crown of the States.

It ain't so bad here. 40 miles west? That's another story, but rural life is best life. And you get more snow than the urbanites (and precipitously lower car tab bill)

Find a location at 500feet near Seattle, preferable east, and you can double your annual snowfall and still be a 25-30 minute drive from Seattle. I used to live at a house at 500 feet, so many times I would drive to the top starting at like 320feet and it would be snowing at the top. One occasion, during an event that was very marginal, my house got around 8-10 inches of heavy wet snow, while the bottom got a few inches or less. Tree branches started to break, and there was thunder snow. It's even better if you can get a place in the PSCZ at 500 feet.

I just moved to an area close to Enumclaw around 600-700 feet. Really hoping this location marginally improves my snow chances this winter.

Perhaps if I would have thought about it more I would have moved to Spokane or Wenatchee. I work remotely so maybe in the future I will relocate. Personally I like being somewhat close to Seattle.

Yeah... real estate prices in the Seattle area certainly don't say there is a mass exodus going on.   Pretty much the opposite.

People are still moving to the Seattle area. My brother is a construction foreman over in Western Washington. He never has any shortage of work. They just keep building and building.

Enumclaw does great when it's an onshore flow cold or northerly gradient cold situation, but horrible with easterly.  Worse than here even.

Wow!  The GFS ext ensemble is incredible on both the mean and the control run.  The mean shows snow on the ground for both Christmas and New Years.

How is crime? I read that Spokane ranks with Tukwila for crime.

It depends on where you live. Hillyard and West Central have some crime issues, but Spokane's crime is mostly property crime. There isn't a lot of violent crime. I've talked to some former Tacoma and Seattle residents over the years. They all thought Spokane's crime was pretty tame when compared to Tacoma and Seattle.

The 18z CFS was insane for January.  Unquestionably a Jan 1950 redux it's showing.
