The wind has died off considerably here.

It’s kinda eerie…pretty sure it’ll ramp up again once the cold front swings through.

Not much wind in this area yet, but judging by northerly reports we may not be out of the woods quite yet. If I'm to be correct it's the pressure rises guiding the strong gusts, no?

Yeah, need turbulent eddys to mix those winds down from aloft (as flow over land surface is neutered by friction). Best way to do that is via CAA/pressure rises and/or diurnal heating. The latter is more difficult in situations with a saturated BL/falling stratiform precip (limited evap cooling aloft/sfc heating). Even more so at this time of year/at that latitude.

Mountain waves/terrain is another way to get wind but need to be on the lee side.

A big west coast ridge will not help our long term drought situation.

You’re whiny today.

Give it 3-4 weeks. You’ll get more than enough cool(ish) zonal flow this winter.

@Phil werent you telling us to watch the heights in siberia or something a week or two ago? Whats the status on that?

Yeah for the transition in EAMT/AAM tendency, which will help amplify the pattern for the 2nd half of this month (which is what sets up the retrogression in December).

57F, calm and dry under clouds. The same shitt as most of last winter, and the winter before.

Record heat and warmth with clouds. If you like that, then this is the place for you.

Now you see why I want to move to Indiana so badly. I have no fuckking concept of what this Arctic Front phenomenon is. along with all the dubious stats that continue to pile up being a push factor.

25 positive double-digit temp departures since our last double-digit negative one.

I'm so fuckking sick of this location's bullshitt, boring-a$$ conditions.

I was thinking this earlier today.  2021 will go down as a rather deceptively dynamic weather year.

There’s still one complete month left. I wonder which one it is…

I maybe that wasn't the main event, winds died down quite a bit after that big gust earlier.  Looking at the radar I'm guessing its still on its way.

Just heard a callout for a water rescue on Lake Samish for a wind surfer.....seriously?!?!?!?

We would hope that's a hoax, right? but then we know how stupid people are, and then it seems legit.

Are you going through with the move?

You’ll be sweaty all summer but that’s a pretty dynamic climate. I think you’d enjoy it.

Concerned for La Push. This is for a stage of 41 feet. It's at 44 feet and rising.

"the Bogachiel River will cause major flooding from State Highway 110 near the Bogachiel bridge down to its mouth. Deep...swiftly moving water will inundate residential areas and SR 110 in the valley near the Bogachiel River bridge. Homes and businesses will be inundated in La Push near the mouth of the river. Flooding will occur all along the river including headwaters...tributaries...and other streams within and near the Bogachiel River Basin."

Well hopefully you can luck out and sneak in a forced evacuation before year’s end. Sorry the fire season didn’t work out for you.😟

If I can ever make enough money. It's almost impossible for me to save. I have some small investments but it's just so slow. Then life happens and we need money, etc.

Being poor and disabled happens to a lot of people so I know I'm not alone in that regard.

I truly appreciate all the help y'all have given me.
