Blathering aside, unlikely we repeat 1999/00. I’m still bullish on a real -PNA/GOA High establishing during mid/late December.

Might not be amplified enough for a true arctic blast, but it should be close. I’d definitely like my chances in the northern areas as it could be a gradient situation.

Praying for TWL. 😬

I’ll be in Sunriver from Dec 23-30. Gonna try to ski at Bachelor every day. A lot more comfortable being below 44°N when at 4200’ east of the Cascades...

December 2016 was wild there. Got two -7 mornings and the month was a -6 departure but apparently it was on the southern edge of big cold. Klamath Falls was like -1 and from Lassen County southwards it was a warm month. Jan 2017 spread the wealth all the way down the coast though.

Would really blow if we had a 3rd winter in a row with an extreme N/S gradient

We’re +2.5 so far this month…looks cooler overall than what we’ve seen so far this month (obviously since it’s late November now) but still seems like a good bet we end up above normal in temperatures as well as precipitation.
Still yet to get a freezing low temp here too so we may have to wait until December for that…which is a bit unusual but I’m fine with a warmer than normal November that usually ends up well for us.

I really enjoyed Nov 2010, unfortunately all of my pics are on my old Android phone that completely died, and that was the time before the cloud. I would have been okay dokey with a redux.

November 2010 was tragic up here. Less than an inch with the arrival of the arctic front that disappeared pretty quickly and like 2" on the overrunning event at the end. The temperatures were sure cold, but snow was pretty lacking. Of course three months later more than made up for it.

I will NEVER forget Thanksgiving 2010. My ex-wife and I went down to the bar in downtown Silverton the night before, she was not much of a drinker, but for whatever reason she went all out that night. The next day she wanted my buddy to take pictures of us in the snow up at Silver Falls for Christmas cards. About 2 miles from the park she demanded he pull over and she stumbled out into the snow face planted and vomited for about 15 minutes. Came back to the car, we took the pics, and then went back to town. Later we went to my Dad's for Thanksgiving, and she just laid on his couch the entire time... We ended up having to re-take the pics for the Christmas cards.

That is phenomenal. This sounds like a plot to one of those fancy Lifetime Christmas movies.

The czone with that front on the 23rd was truly major in Skagit County. Really nailed a small area with 20-30" of snow in a short time. Some of the heaviest rates I've seen in the PNW

I think that same night we got hit by a pretty heavy band of snow too. I was 11 about to turn 12 at the time but I remember it pretty well could barely see across the street for a couple hours. Think we had about 4” of snow in 3 hours.

East of Eugene on President's Day 2011 about 1800' I believe, we tried to get to the hot springs, but the road was snowed in past this point. If we had made it perhaps our marriage would have been saved.

Going down memory lane now. This was early February 2011 at Butte Creek Falls. I've never been able to figure out how to get back there since they closed the access road I took this time. I know the Beachie Creek Fire got into this drainage, but I heard the falls didn't burn. Very beautiful area.

Everett is down to 39 degrees with moderate rain and a North wind at 4 PM. Definitely would have been a great snowstorm with halfway decent cold air in place with the track this storm is taking.

Its raining and the radar shows widespread rain... but the sky just turned red here as the sun is setting.    Sort of strange since that usually only happens when we are near the back edge of the precip as the sun is going down.

Yeah, best winter day I think I've ever experienced. Consistent 3"/hr rates dropped 8" of snow in the morning right as I woke up and I got to enjoy the whole day before the main event came through. I was in Mount Vernon that night sledding when the mother of all snow convergence zones moved in. I caught the beginning of the 6"/hr rates which dropped 18" in a little over 3 hours in town. I-5 shut down as cars were buried in the snow and couldn't be cleared until morning. At home I only picked up another 3.5" that night, but that still made for almost a foot on the ground.

Of course every event for the next nine years underperformed up here until January 2020 so I was paying off my snow debt for a long time. My location went eight years (until February 2019) without a single storm >3" of snow.

Same thing just happened here, but I couldn't figure it out. Whole sky was reddish purple, but it was clouds and rain as far as the eye could see.

Looks torturous.

Wow what awful music LOL. Let's see 1999-2000 I was listening to Metal, Bass Music, Classic Rock, some rap No Limit stuff mainly.

Wow I was in high school and consuming pop music like a fiend, and I only remember 4-5 of those songs.

That's because that album was primarily produced for the UK and those tunes were more popular there. Believe it or not, a lot of those tracks later on the album are pretty decent trance tracks and a lot better than most of the stuff on the radio today. Gouryella was great back then. Tiesto and Ferry Corsten are 2 of the most respected DJs of all time. We just don't hear them much because the American record companies don't want us to hear it.

That said, my favorite vibe right now is the night drive, neon lights 80s retrowave sound that's become increasingly popular over the last decade.

Getting our first real snow of the season  now.  Supposed to get 3-5 inches.  Had a few flurries and a trace in the last 2 weeks.

Awesome! We head up there every year between Christmas and the New Year. It’s a sh*t show, but that’s part of the deal. Such a beautiful area. Enjoy.

We were on the southern edge of that February 2011 epicness!! Think we ended up with about 16” for that event. Sure was fun!!

Elevation 580’ Location a few miles east of I-5 on the Snohomish Co side of the Snohomish/Skagit border. I love snow/cold AND sun/warmth!
