Wow!   It has just been very light rain here with an east wind.    North Bend is at .06 for the day but I think .03 of that was just after midnight from the remnants of the front yesterday.

Wow! Yeah it’s been super wet up here today, just hit the 1” mark for the day, 1.05” for the month.

Elevation 580’ Location a few miles east of I-5 on the Snohomish Co side of the Snohomish/Skagit border. I love snow/cold AND sun/warmth!

Its the kind of rain here where you could stand out there for an hour and not really get wet.     Its technically raining... but barely.

Hmmmm that would be me... How can I do that?

Looking around the site I only was able to create polls via another separate topic. @RentonHillTCUnless there is some obscure way to include one in this thread that I haven't found out, I'd suggest creating a poll somewhere else and linking that thread via a comment here.

All the discussion of November 1985 made me take a look at the SEA hourly obs from that time. I remembered the snow (especially the first round) and the duration, but didn’t recall how persistently cold it was. Pretty amazing number of sub freezing highs in there.

Watch the Apple Cup that year. It was held in Seattle, and it looks like a winter day in Spokane.

What is your average annual rainfall (including SWE) like? Your place always seems to be one of the wetter stations.

2020 I had 62.75” and so far this year I am at 43.35”.
I did not keep track in 2018 & 19, the first two years I was here.

Looks like we are going to get our warm November at least.

I'm not sure why you keep calling the solid week of below normal 850s coming up a torch.

You probably average Atleast 55-60 inches a year if I had to guess.

1985 was insane.  Places just north of SEA were even colder, because the Arctic boundary got hung up there while SEA had a brief thaw sometime late in the month.  Where I was living we had 11 or 12 freezing max temps in a row.  Simply unreal.

Where I was living on Finn Hill we had 11 consecutive freezing max temps in Nov 1985 (actually one of them on Dec 1).  There were 14 consecutive highs 35 or below, the coldest day had a 26/9 spread, several inches of snow on the ground for many days, with a max depth of 10 inches.  Absolutely amazing stuff for November.  Almost certainly my favorite run of winter weather I've seen here with a fantastic mix of sustained cold, snow, sunshine, and days with snow falling.

I also happen to know my present location performed even better than the King / Snohomish line area that month.

Another fascinating thing about 1985 is how cold the foothills were in December.  Landsburg had 20 min temps of 25 or lower and many highs in the low to mid 30s.  Considerably colder than where I was living in North King County.  That was due to brutal cold over Central WA seeping through the passes for the entire month.  What a winter that was.

Now we wait.  I think there will probably be an appetizer this month, but who knows.  At any rate it appears to be a pretty dynamic period up over the next 10 days.

That month was so incredibly anomalous it's not even funny.  Right up there with Jan 1950 for how far off normal it was.

November 1985 also had some pretty zany diurnal spreads mid-month at Monroe, before the real arctic air flooded south.

11/11 - 40/22

11/12 - 44/21

11/13 - 49/23

11/14 - 52/22 (!)

Hard to imagine that nowadays.

I just don’t have much faith in the gfs. Pretty much have always been a euro fan…not right all the time but none of the models are 100% accurate anyways.

The GFS still shows a pretty good slug of cold air moving in for the weekend and early next week.  Should be a lot of mountain snow.

It could just come at a different time.  The pattern being shown could spin up a low at pretty much any point.

Interesting to be seeing 2008 as a strong analog on the last few GFS runs.  1970 continues to be there on a frequent basis.

I pretty much agree with his assessment.  The other aspect of this is very active Novembers often lead to cold weather a little further down the road.

One thing to watch closely is the Pacific ridge / Aleutian block combo that has been showing up very consistently the last few weeks.  Usually those two features will eventually combine.  When that happens it's pretty easy for the hammer to drop.

Stopped raining down this way around 4pm- I believe. It really did pour pretty good though. Sure created a traffic headache.
