Yeah... its getting depressing for me now. Particularly when it's been so sunny across the rest of the country.    Seems like we are always in the worst spot for a long time.   Oh well.  Life goes on.

The spring and summer make up for it though. Enjoy the variety 😀

Plus you know this leads to a big winter

Up to 1.58"  The wind got pretty intense for my area late in the afternoon, thankfully the power stayed on, though we did have a flicker right as we sat down to eat.  Dodged a bullet there!

January 1950 was an insane anomaly. Full blown -PNA, yet without much of a -EPO component.

The fully realized, pure blooded expression of the +QBO/Niña mean state. Might never see that in our lifetimes.

And talk about a SE ridge that month... Jacksonville spent the great majority of January 1950 in the upper 70s/lower 80s, with next to no precipitation, and finished the month +13.7°F compared to their modern average. The monthly mean of 67.9°F ended up just shy of what they'd expect to see in April. That probably helped our arctic pattern's longevity quite a bit.

Nah. You're fine. Yeah. About that. I've tried that before. 🤣

Hahaha at least this is close to a decent pattern!

I'm greedily hoping for the goods before Christmas, as I'll be in Stockholm the last week of the year. I'll be buried to my waist in snow over there if the pattern continues....

I doubt we’ll make it up here. Still 6” away.  We might get close with rainfall but 2006 had 3.5” of Snow melt on to it.

YYJ had 12.2" of rain that month, and 13.9" with snow melt. It's currently at 9.8" (as of yesterday's total). Hitting the rain mark wouldn't be too much of a stretch with that juicy looking system coming in this weekend. Hitting the combined total with snow would be tough, barring an unforeseen snowstorm next Tuesday
