I can’t imagine living in some of the spots in the western gorge. There are quite a few residences up in the Cape Horn area that can easily see 50+ mph gusts for 7-10 day stretches once any kind of cold pool becomes established. Some years are worse than others but that would take a lot of getting used to.

It's fun when it's gusting 45mph+ for a week :D

Two pictures I’ve been meaning to post here for some time. These are aftermath of the December 1996 snowstorms at about 300 feet elevation in Shoreline, WA (just north of Seattle). Conditions when these were taken was moderate to heavy rain and a temperature of about 50°F, so there had been significant melting and compaction by this time. (Maximum snow depth happened during the hours of darkness.)

I don't get very many garden spiders, but I do get these bastards inside my home on occasion. For scale, that's a quarter.

Giant house spiders... You have Great Britain cargo ships in the 1800s to thank for those! :)

Yeah those spiders I hate. I haven't had any inside my house that size, but they do like to build their homes behind the planter box outside. Last year there were far more of them. Kill them! Kill them all!

Nope. But I have at least 2 Canadian quarters you can have. Some asss hole in Bellingham gave me them in change about 20 years ago and I'm still angry about it.

That's intense! One of those is going to wander in eventually if these zonal patterns keep repeating themselves.

Only 2 here…And that number will not be going any higher. I don’t know how parents keep up when the kids out number you! Though I’m old and tired so that doesn’t help! 🤣
