Yeah the only place in Washington that was still in significant drought status was the SE corner…and they look like there getting some pretty hefty rain right now so that’ll help. Send the focus down to Oregon for awhile.

Darn right we are! Garfield and Asotin counties have nothing to complain about. Even Lewiston in Idaho is expected to do well with this rainfall tonight.

Last year it was basically snow /cold or dry. The last month has been wet at least by our standards in the far SE corner of the state. I'm shocked we're still in such dark colors on the drought monitor at this point. We were also in good shape at the end of last winter believe it or not. That shows how dry the summer was.

On twitter right now "RIP Winter" is trending. Too early to say winter cancel...but it turned out a dolphin in Florida died.

That band must’ve been heavier on that side of the bay…we just went over 1” of rain here and over 4” for the month. Hopefully the leakage is fixed soon.

Tropical rains 🤪

It was and AR event when my roof gave way so I was up there in the dark splatting that tar everywhere I could think. I was beyond soaked as well that crud all over me but as I said found the spot!
Hopefully you have and easy fix!

Predicted peak discharge continues to drop as we get closer:

Another aspect of this event that is mitigating flooding is that we keep getting fairly significant breaks in the rain... another one is moving in now.    That allows water to run off before the next round.   Its seems like the real problematic AR events are relentless with the heavy rain.

I haven’t it’s a flat roof on an apartment building and we have no ladder tall enough here to get up there. GENIUS design here in the PNW having a flat roof. I was very worried during February 2019 when there was 2 feet of snow on the roof.

Our family lake house was once a flat roof, it was built as a small cabin in the 1950’s and then added onto throughout the years. Then the roof started leaking badly during the big melt of December 1996 after 2 feet of snow fell, my Dad, uncle, and myself were up there shoveling the snow off to save the house. The spring of 1997 we had a regular pitched roof put on it. Flat roofs are no good.

So are we calling it a winter already?

We do that down here in October. If anything happens after that it's just a bonus.

Something to watch!!!

PDX has yet to record a sub-40 low this Mowvember, and it looks like it might be a bit before they have a legitimate shot.

A few years where they were similarly tardy?

2016, 2013, 2006, 1998…

1998 was the only to make it past the 16th, waiting amazingly until 11/28 before things got anywhere near Jimriffic.
