Welp…My major drainage upgrade from 3yrs ago is no match for tonight’s rain. Will probably need to get sandbags for a temporary fix. I also made a small dike as a backup and it’s holding but barely. 2.57” on the day.

Nasty... however many hours of brief break is there we definitely need it. Our drainage system is fantastic here to handle the rain, but there is a limit.

The euro run @RentonHillTC posted shows 4.57” in the next 72 hours here. Thankfully models are converging on some cool dry weather later on next week and it’s not continued beyond that for now.

My issue is the 60 acres straight above me that tops out at about 200’ higher and it all flows towards me. Luckily the owners are also our longtime friends and they have also been doing as much as possible to divert.

Elevation 580’ Location a few miles east of I-5 on the Snohomish Co side of the Snohomish/Skagit border. I love snow/cold AND sun/warmth!

I wish. Unfortunately, this puppy is pretty locked in at this point. We will get the table scraps down here.

So incredibly dry down there... over a foot of rain at PDX since September 18th and just about normal for 2021 now.   Always table scraps.😀

How is the drainage system being handled around there? This shouldn't be something new, did no one established a drainage system to a point where owners have to do it themselves to divert? Excuse my ignorant for asking since I've lived mostly in the city, so drainage and flooding is not much of a concern here on top of a hill. Everything flows quite adequately. We have seen worse as well.

That’s only 2 inches less than us here in that timeframe.

I think it’s probably going to be really wet with big flood concerns for all of western WA at this point…but we will see where the bullseye winds up this time.

I would definitely be taking defense at this point along any waterway regardless of where this thing sets up!  Ground is primed as Mossman’s showed! My pump under house has been going off every minute now.

@TacomaWaWxPuyullup river almost at flood stage. I feel like that will rise if the Euro verifies.

It probably will even if we don’t end up in the bullseye with this next AR.

That’s something straight out of November 2006 if it verifies. Will be interesting to see how tonight’s runs look. This is not very far out though…

Worth pointing out that was another case of major flooding followed by an Arctic outbreak.

Was in Puyallup today. That river was right near the top with a steady line of logs flowing down it. Big water

I think I drove by here this past summer to the falls and I could be wrong here but I don't recall any protective nettings in place to prevent rockslides. I could be, I just didn't remember seeing them. Perhaps the locals can attest.

Not sure about the Portland area, but it sorta does seem true regarding places like Eugene lately being screwed somewhat by a strong N/S gradient.

This is one of those rare times where I’m actually rooting against an anomalous extreme weather event…not like it even matters of course. Gonna be some big time flooding early next week might be worse than some of the flooding in recent years.

I'm sure you can dig it up. Report Eugene during this Sept 18 (from Tim's previous post) til now time frame or if it helps... go Oct til now. And let see.

I can dig it up for you for Eugene.. just for November alone. Haven't had a dry day so far with nearly 5" of rain. Interesting!
