Just stepped out on the deck. Crazy gusts and a smokey but almost sweet kinda smell. Immediately grabbed my attention. Where is that from?

This was on the Omaha scanner Facebook page a bit ago. Could smell the smoke here and was causing multiple calls to 911. Look at all the calls!!

Omaha Fire Department responding to numerous odor of smoke calls throughout the city. No active fires have been located and the odor is likely being blown in by the wind.
Stop ******* calling 911 to tell them it smells like smoke outside unless you ACTUALLY SEE fire.

Ok so the intense wind is here. This is nuts. Idk the actual numbers but I'm getting hit hard with gusts. It  is very intense. Prolly the most intense outside of a thunderstorm. Very impressed. Everything that was forecasted has happened.

It is literally howling outside.

Reading all your comments has been impressive.  I'm saving as much data and graphics wrt to this storm system as I can.  Truly a historic storm for the record books.  Glad to hear that the damage was minimal to most of our members on here.  I'm in awe as to what nature can do, but esp the amount of wind and power this storm has created outside of thunderstorms.  The roaring wind has made its way here now as the CF is pushing through. I can hear dings on my sky light from debris flying around.  Lots of tree damage in the city of Chicago from earlier winds.  I'm sure there will be more this morning.  What a crazy past 12 hours of wx!  Hopefully next cycle this system could produce a Beast but with a more wintry component.

Holy smokes...while on the comp at my desk, I thought I smelled the hint of smoke.  I went up stairs to fill up my coffee and went on my deck and the smell of smoke is pretty intense!  The skies are clear but the thick smoke is obscuring the stars.  This totally reminds me of the smell of the wild fires I experienced out in Arizona.  It's really unbelievable how far this smoke has traveled across the country and carried by the winds from this storm.  There are just so many fascinating features with this storm that make it memorable.  Just wish it would have been on the more wintry side of things.  Can you imagine what kind of Blizzard this would be???  100mph winds and Blowing Snow....hmmmm, one can only imagine....

That’s gonna freeze up nice and tight over the coming days and be the base for the remainder of the season.

Here’s some images and video from yesterday.

First, here’s a short dash cam video of the beginning of a tornado that went near Beemer, NE.

I included a clip of the CC drop from the tornado that shows up near Monterey and moves between West Point and Beemer. I was near Snyder when I took the video.

Also included some other radar grabs and pics of the dirt left behind from the muddy rain that fell later in the evening after the severe line moved through.

I wanted to share with you a link where you can see some video of the scenes up in the mountains out west that were impacted.  You can fast forward to the 7:40 min mark and there are 3 different cities.  The last one in Evergreen, CO shows what I wanted to see which was the squall line of whiteout conditions caused by the systems CF.  I would have been ecstatic to be there!
