PNW December 2021 Obs - Pt 3 - No Winter For Low Lands

Any chance just like the other night the OP is an outlier ? Then the EPS came out coldest run yet.

I'd imagine the extreme solutions will slip away for a couple runs. At least a day or two. Whether they return or not is another question.

Agreed. But you would think the model was showing a heat wave.  And people act like whatever the model is showing now will happen at face value

We had a pretty good windstorm in the Skagit area on this date in 2018 :). Nearly all of Burlington and N. Mt Vernon were out of power.

That came up on my FB memories! We were powerless for about 3 days.

Elevation 580’ Location a few miles east of I-5 on the Snohomish Co side of the Snohomish/Skagit border. I love snow/cold AND sun/warmth!

Am I missing something? Still gets cold for Christmas just not as extreme. Then there's a brief warmup (still below freezing) and then gets cold.

The CURRENT Euro depicts cold onshore flow for the entirety of the first shot. That’s a mildly (no pun…) significant change from the last couple days’ worth of runs.

Matt says no cold until nearly January now. We still have MLK to look forward to.

It seems like we keep pushing the field goal post later. Each event that gets closer seems to get more marginal with time.  Let’s see what the model trends over the next couple runs before we cancel winter

Some people may prefer that. 🙃

I think the top end potential of this is December 2008ish. Bottom, we still have time for a complete bust, but probably still something decent.

Currently 35 degrees. Never got above 35 and stayed at 32-34 degrees with cold rain for 12 hours today. Tough day🤮

As it is, today's cold probably acted as a bit of a siphon from next week’s frivolities.

Didn't February 2019 have several of these pullbacks? Like pretty large scale, too?
