Wow, the latest HRRR actually has another 4" falling in Cedar Rapids.  It does not move the mix line any farther north than it is now.

You guys will do better than me over here as it is struggling to accumulate.   Both air and ground temps are to warm. It’s nice to see the snow falling during the daytime.  Not expecting more than 1” outta this.

Looks like I was 15-20 miles too far south for this one.  We got a burst of heavy snow about 30 minutes ago, but it only lasted a few minutes and switched back to a mix.  We'll be under an inch for the event, but with some decent ice accumulation.  Roads are slick.

The back edge is approaching, but the mix line is surging north ahead of that.  Right now it's nearly on top of me and the snow has pretty much stopped.

My snow total is 3.1".  The liquid total is 0.48".  It started out cold and dry, but ended wet.  While out shoveling the temp warmed above freezing and it began to drizzle.  Just in the last twenty minutes a decent rain shower moved through.

Tomorrow is pretty interesting. Arguably more interested in that system than today's even if snowfall totals are somewhat lesser. Light and high ratio snow on top of today's 3" of slush will really make it look like winter around here.

Meanwhile, the Euro has little more than a dusting across the area Wednesday.

The NWS is not excited about this wave at all... <1" total.

3.5” of concrete here.  Of course the snow blower didn’t fire up.  Need to get that figured out before the next round for sure.

I didn't bother with my blower.  It has performed poorly for years and can't handle wet snow.  The auger belt appears to be a bit loose so I need to tighten it up before Saturday and hope that helps.

ORD officially ended up with 1.5" of slop while the NW burbs cashed in better int he 2-4" range...not a bad way to finish off a very warm DEC...could be worse, hey, at least we set another record for the latest measurable snowfall (j/k)...12-28-21 will be in the record books.

The models this morning are placing today's narrow 1-2" snow band through Iowa City, with only a dusting in Cedar Rapids.

It's coming down pretty well just outside of Des Moines.  Started about 45 minutes ago and have a little more than half an inch. May be able to get 2 inches out of this but just nice to have a white ground show up. Just a teaser for Saturday hopefully!❄❄

There was a weenie band that set up across the NW/N burbs later in the evening and dropped a quick 1-3" in an hour.  A report in Lake county had 3.1" in an hour.  I woke up around 10:00pm or so last night and it was ripping pretty nice and I picked up about 1.3" of fluffier snow and 2.8" of snow the past couple days.
