Bring on the snow!

Lol…..just rooting for the deep freeze part to hold up a bit.  I’m fine with the the normal snow falling today as it won’t cause any issues on the highway. Nest cam already showed snow falling back at home and local social media reporting snow as well there.
if I were home though I would definitely be in the bring on the Arctic front and stall it over the house!

Merry Christmas ❄️🎄❄️

Just got the internet satellite dish cleared so I can post again. Got about 2” overnight and stayed at 32.7 until about 5am when it bumped to 33.3 and started raining. Lost about an inch of snow. Just switched back to snow/sleet and 33.1. About 1” on the ground.
Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas from the GFS!

This is the peak snow depth in PDX for the weekend event as per the 06z GFS. Shadowed to death. GFS also took away the Tuesday storm and the Thursday event will be mixed with rain here.  FWIW the 12z ICON brings the Tuesday event back. Seems models are still not really coming to a clear consensus on that but my gut feeling is that precip will come in further inland and further north than currently modeled.

Yeah good chance that Portland, at least the west side, gets hosed by the entire event

Based on the mesoscale models it looks like it should switch back over to snow here sometime around 1 p.m. so I guess I'll wait with excitement until then!

Have you considered Starlink?  I think their dishes have a heating element.

Seattle is looking similarly dry. Is this accurate or is the GFS underestimating snowfall from the arctic front?

Christmas morning 2018 back in Klamath Falls. I think there's currently an inch to two inches there right now but hard to get photos from anyone at the moment. 2018 was one of the driest years, so it was a surprise to have this land on the big day with 2" measured.

Not bad to have 3 of these in the last 4 years in KF. The deepest ones I had were 2015 and 2012 however.

For the last 18 hours there's been this confused wasp on one of my windows. It probably thinks Spring is coming.

It's upper 60's with a light SW'rly breeze here.

I'm pretty sure the travel is the only reason he's hoping for nothing on I-5.

Bainbridge Island has been downgraded to an inch or less on multiple forecasts so something has changed

Today’s not the day for Bainbridge or even most of Kitsap probably.  The olympics are holding us up.  But the cold is working it’s way in and we do have some precip coming in tonight.  Tomorrow.  Who knows with the model waffling.  The main thing is it is getting colder up above

I think we stay mostly dry tomorrow as well. Olympia/Tacoma and parts of seattle will get some decent totals. Just not enough moisture for everyone

We're going to good late tonight and Sunday. 2-3 inches look like a solid forecast.  Our time over here will be when the systems start sliding down the coast next week and we get the advantage off offshore flow and cold air damming.

06z euro said not much on anything tonight down here. Precip runs out by the time we get to a snow signature. Light snow showers on Sunday, not adding up to a whole lot but we'll see if we get any of the aforementioned banding sun night into monday.

Good news is I believe this is the first time the Tuesday system showed precip reaching metro. 1640692800-66MhZ0iEkqs.png

Have mainly been lurking around here for a few years but you all have been very informative and entertaining over the years and I love the in depth look into the models that I can't get anywhere else so just wanted to wish you all a Merry Christmas! Hopefully Everett gets a little snow cuz my home in Bremerton looks to get the shaft a little this round

Here’s hoping that it stays cold enough

Not trying to be a pessimist but we could see the low 40s by next weekend and I’m not confident in the cold returning in early to mid January. But a lot can and will happen between now and then

Yeah, winter is over after tomorrow.

I’m not saying we won’t have snow over the next couple of months, but this event, to me, doesn’t look like it will deliver as I had hoped for my area. Will still be fun to watch and hopefully the long range forecasts are right!

Just looked through WA state webcams. Looks like North of Burlington is the big weiner so far. A little down through Olympia and some accumulation on peninsula. Mostly wet all other areas, even up through Noryh Bend. Bellingham looks pretty crazy right now. Good stuff still to come. Merry Christmas everyone!!
