It's cold enough here that there is still a decent amount of snow at least.  Might still completely change to snow for a bit I suppose.

If it makes you feel any better, it’s a real melt-a-thon in Vancouver tonight, too.

In reality there are many more places not getting snow than getting it tonight.

Drove down 202 into Redmond and it was dumping snow up on Education Hill, but barely sticking.

Not really a ZR situation... usually temps have to be in the 20s for serious ice accumulations.

The snow is actually very close to your area.   Highway 18 near Maple Valley is snow covered.

The outflow down there seems to be holding out better than the Fraser. Must be the wind direction, it's more from the E/ESE there vs south in the Fraser. Things change tomorrow morning, ironically temperatures in most of the coastal region cool down with southerlies but the airmass in Eastern WA is greatly diminished.

Yeah... the snow out here is being entirely driven by the cold air east of the mountains.    It will likely be warmer out here tomorrow despite colder air aloft.

Every snow lover in King County should live as close to North Bend as possible.

North Bend is easily one of the best places it seems. Quite amazing given that it has the same elevation as SEA. Randy’s not bad as well but you seems to hold onto the cold and snow much better.

Switched back to a cold rain here for some reason, had fat flakes falling for over an hour. WTF

All of this is very much precip rates dependent if you’re dealing with marginal temps. As rates let up, it can easily turn back to rain.

Northgate area now beginning to make progress on the slow switch from rain to snow. I have 33.2F on my thermometer at home. Dewpoint is 30F. Larger flakes are mixing in. Let's see what happens. I think this could be the start of something good for north Seattle snow lovers.

Following up: it's definitely rate-dependent. Need just a little stronger push on the radar to tip the scales.

Just nasty out there.  32 on the nose with a heavy slushy mix falling.

Ended up with 38/26 for my temps yesterday.  Pretty decent considering everything.

If it wasn't getting so late I would have hung out up in Lynnwood. I really wish I was back in north Shoreline on a night like this! Gonna try to move back north at some point.

Doesn't surprise me.  Too bad I usually miss out in these cases.  The cold air is just too shallow here.

So upon leaving downtown Redmond; which really didn't have anything new on the roads, the snow picked up again as I climbed into the Overlake area. Streets were slushy near Microsoft and the Crossroads area. That's about where the last snowflakes I saw were falling.

Here on Mercer Island it is just rain and 36*.

Getting reports of 6" of new powder at 200 feet. I think that counts as lowlands. Might be up to a foot by the time this wraps, conveniently when I'm due to drive home.

Yeah....it was obvious some places were going to score.  My call earlier was Kitsap County, NW King County, Western Snohomish County would all see snow with SW King County on the bubble.  Worked out just that way.

I really wish I had known about this shallow cold air problem here before we bought this place.  We hold onto cold quite well here, but in cases like this I get screwed on snow 90% of the time.
