Love this kind of stuff!

Check out some of these weather observations from today...
Currently 52 in North Bonneville, but at the Bridge of the Gods, 7 miles away, it's 28.
Also, note the 96 mph wind gust at Meadows this morning...

2.23" of rain with a high of 49.6 so far today.

Quite the way to break my sub-40 high streak of 12 days. Did not miss the warm weather and especially did not miss the rain. C'est la vie, I suppose.

I don't think many places pulled off the 12 consecutive sub 40 highs.  That was pretty impressive.  The thing I really hate about this climate is so many times when we get something good there has to be some kind of a price to pay.

One of the great exceptions was the winter of 1928-29.  We had a run of weather quite a bit better than we just had and then it was cold and clear for the entire first half of Feb.

2.85 inches for the day, 3.16 for the event. I love rain, but I'm ready for this to stop. There's so much standing water around my house. 😖

I couldn't believe the flooding I saw around here today.  Roads are going under water that I've never seen do that before.

At least the ECMWF weeklies looked good today and the control model was a home run.

Looks like Lynden is holding strong at 25 degrees!

If I was going to move to Whatcom County that would probably be my top choice.  Sometimes Sumas just gets so consumed with dry air they don't get much snow.  Lynden seems to have a good mix of holding onto cold air, but still get moisture in most cases.

I guess the next goal is to avoid hitting 50 with this warm blast.  Only 48 here so far.

So much water!

Today is just flat out depressing.  I'm glad it's still early in the winter.

Yup. I had to text the hubby and let him know of a couple "surprise" spots for his drive home. There's spots that usually flood, but this time there's several where I've never seen flooding before.

Holy smokes, it was 32 at 4:45, it is now 5:10 and it is 44 degrees.

I think it is safe to say that the melt is on.  Now to see how much rain gets piled on the 6-8" of snow that fell up here in WC.

My friend runs an outdoor school on a farm in Enumclaw and she said their greenhouses which are the only indoor parts of the school are in danger of floating away. Never seen flooding nearly that bad there before.

Rain shadow has been amazing here. Everett has recorded 0.01” since 4:53 AM. Crazy to think much of the rest of the state has had hundreds of times more rain.

It is a much better feeling coming out of this epic stretch on January 6th as opposed to it being mid February for sure!! Lots of winter ahead!

Yikes, sounds like it's getting ugly in a lot of places around western WA.

And this after what northern WA experienced in November...

Lots of schools closed in  Grays Harbor tomorrow, only a few with no announcement, yet.  It is horrible, we have a pond in our backyard which has never happened before.

HA! Nice, we stayed in that cabin too back in Sep 2020! Well we stayed in the 2nd one (furthest from lodge). Also stayed in the lodge in Sep 2019. Love the owners of that place, it's spendy but worth it.

Great people there.  After we'd spend the day snowshoeing up on the ridge, we'd go inner tubing down that giant hill.  Their daughter would snowmobile down and tow us back up.  Food was to die for.  Never ate so much in my life.  One of the coolest places I've stayed.  Imagine waking up every morning and looking right at the Enchantments.

On New Years Eve the locals shot off about two hrs of fireworks and the big boomers would echo far down the canyon towards town.  Except for Longbeach for the 4th, it was the best fireworks I've been around, esp in that setting.

Yes, it's spendy but it was worth every penny.

Lake cushman station showing 8.46” of rain since midnight now 🌧 I know they’ve cracked 10” in a day before, looks like they will today

EDIT other stations showing 2-4” I’m not believing this. Possible but unlikely

Other nearby stations significantly less
