Very solid GFS run.  Looks like a stable cold pattern late in the run.

Thought I would get it started. Post tsunami Dungeness crab cakes.

Just for you Rob

My Mom is from Maryland and can make some mean crab cakes. One of my favorite meals. A trick is to pan fry them like you are to just brown them real quick and then bake them in that same pan.

I don't do that with fresh Dungy

Quick brown and they are done.

Went out of Tillamook on Sunday after the tsunami and limited on very full crab.

Rockfish ceviche may be shared another day

That pattern at the end of the GFS is a beast.  The surface high complex says it would last for a long time.  Perfect balance of high pressure over the NE Pacific and over Western Canada.

BTW...an interesting little factoid.  I ran the numbers several years ago and found that Feb 2 is the most likely day of the year to have snow on the ground in Seattle.

Funny, that is also where I got so much of my emergency preparedness from. I worked at a large all stages senior community from independent living to assisted living to nursing for not quite a decade working grounds, and us along with maintenance and security crews were considered the front lines in an emergency situation so we had protocols that we would regularly run though with shutting down the propane and other utilities, etc. My boss was awesome and huge with safety which you have to be in that setting.
Anyway my biggest worry is being on the road for work and having many bridges, and roadways where landslides could happen, etc  and not being able to easily get home if I was say in Skykomish or even eastern Washington. That is why I on occasion remind my wife, mom, and 8yr old daughter as to what to do in a large quake, shut down the propane, do an inspection all around the house and in the mechanical room for any water leaks, how to power up the house with the generator if the power grid fails. I truly hope I am either at home or at work however (I work just under a mile from my house and could easily walk home if needed) if the big one does hit.

My dad also taught me a lot about safety. So much that I had crippling anxiety about some stuff, like turning on the gas stove; but that might be because I caught the camping stove on fire a few times by not double checking the canister first.

Has just been drizzle so far this evening. Should get some MUCH needed rainfall into tomorrow morning. We’ve also bumped up to +0.8 degrees above average this month as of today.

I really hope my February 6th prediction works out. Idk we will see it’s still past day 10 on the ensembles but it’s hard not to take notice of all them being on board.
