And we are back to 1000' snow levels down here and a rocking C-zone up north by Friday evening. Now if we can transition from this into some "fake cold."

Baseball needs to buck up and have a salary cap.  I'm so tired of the season starting with only 1/3 of the teams with a realistic chance.  The NFL had most of the teams this yr still in the playoff hunt with a couple weeks left and it's still crazy for Sundays games.

So are you saying the Yankees spend too much money with unchecked spending, trying to buy a WS? that their almost $200,000,000 budget hasn't gotten them a WS since '09?  Can't stand them.  I'd love to see them get clipped.  There's a couple other teams in that group too.

Hard to compete if you're a small market.  Oakland just keeps selling high, buying low in the hopes of finding a Marlins-like combo of players.  Money Ball.  That's not working either right now either.

Go M's.  For once they have a great farm team and some money to spend.

Analytics ruined baseball for me. It was my first love, but we've definitely fallen out of love. Watching a "bullpen" game is like watching paint dry. Give me Steve Trachsel trying to make it 6 innings and there is some entertainment, and some 500' bombs. ;)

They've also ruined it with these silly 7-inning doubleheaders and the ridiculous ghost runner in extra innings now.

I'm okay with 7 inning doubleheaders. We had those in college. The whole analytics thing is interesting. It gives you a better chance to win, but it also ruins the game and makes it unwatchable. And what's worse is most guys don't even try to hit away from the shift.

I would also argue that baseball has still never recovered from the 1958 NFL Championship game. The Dayton Triangles-Baltimore Colts franchise (now in Indy) beat the NY Giants in the first NFL OT game and is considered by many to be the point where football reached its event horizon where there was no going back from it becoming more popular than baseball.

The Wednesday night Thursday morning period will be interesting to track. Potentially a large overrunning event for Puget sound.  Will be interesting to see how the low placement is with the arctic high sliding down bc. This period has huge potential. Could easily be colder than shown currently

For me if you want to get rid of something, it's the shift.  Maybe limit it to how many times a game or maybe how far you can move a third baseman from a specific point to another position.  Moving him to behind the 2nd base bag doesn't work for me.  I absolutely hate seeing 2nd basemen out in right field robbing lefties of legit hits.

I'm ok (being an ex pitcher)  with using analytics when using a certain pitcher against a certain batter.  They did have to tweak that so you're not changing a pitcher three times an inning with three different hitters.  That got out of hand, slowed the game to a crawl.  I do love the cat and mouse matchups though.  Many people don't.  Baseball's always been a thinking mans game.  Now days many fans don't want to think.    7 inning double headers are fine.  I pitched two of them in college in one season.  Those were the days.  What relief pitchers?

As a former pitcher I would just like to see a pitcher make it into the 7th inning now and then... I am exaggerating a little, but the days of the "workhorse" are over. Some of the reasons for that are valid, but I enjoyed that part of the game, watching a pitcher adjust the 2nd and 3rd time through the order, we've lost some of that.

The money ball thing worked for a bit until everyone else is doing it too.  Small market teams have to be lucky to win and then the guys that pan out leave in a couple yrs and you have to start over.  There is enough luck in it all that you're not guaranteed a title, but I find it hard to believe they can't get titles more often with lineups of all stars.

Drives me crazy that they can't just bunt away from the shift.  It reminds me of when people have those unwritten baseball rules like not bunting to break up a no hitter.  If the guys unhittable you have to figure out a way to get on base anyway you can.

Unwritten rules are largely unwritten because they are dumb. Guys are trying to win, not trying to make the other teams pitcher feel happy and increase his chances of getting some that night.

I agree. I pitched 6 complete games  my sophomore year and 5 my senior year of college. Some were 7 inning games, some 9 inning. But I always loved looking at the bullpen guys and saying 'oops!'.

Yeah.  I had a feeling that was going to be an issue this winter, but didn't want to say much about it.  With analogs like 1970 an N to S gradient was pretty likely.  I do think there is a fair chance the next round will be more favorable for you though.  Just a hunch.

Didn't he still see like 10" of snow, though?

This might be wild in areas around North Bend. Peak winds are from the east with snow falling per the EURO. Cold, dry air coming through the gap and precip rates should be strong enough to benefit from evaporative cooling.image.thumb.png.9fe5f5c847e69ef9ec85f4b50c866291.pngimage.thumb.png.9d763d7762924b682d2e0cdb29c93bcc.pngimage.thumb.png.055dfc431727bf80d2ae4137e31534ac.png

Looks like I'm in the bullseye on Euro. 35+mph winds, below freezing. Might get some blizzard-like conditions if the front moves in at the right time. Easterlies here can be brutal.

Still only 30.2 here with a DP of 26. Kind of shocked really, figured I would have been above freezing by now.

The station 3 miles from home has been at freezing or below since Christmas night at 4pm, if my house matches this it's a record for me.

I went below freezing at noon on Christmas Day and still have not yet hit the freezing mark, I believe that is a record for me…Maybe 1990 went longer I can’t remember now.
