Skagit Weather
Picked up about 3.5" of very wet snow (almost all of it fell at 32F or above) at home overnight after a 35.1/30.7F day yesterday. Precipitation stayed mostly snow until about 2 a.m. when it got above 33F and switched over to rain for the last hour that the rain was falling. Probably the equivalent of 0.5" of liquid, but I don't have a heated rain gauge so I might not get an accurate reading. That 3.5" puts me at 17" of snow on the year which is now behind only 2008-09 and 2010-11 for the most snowfall I've recorded up here since 2000. Anacortes (which is more in the Fraser outflow than I am) was the the big winner in Skagit County as they picked up anywhere from 6-9" of new snow. 1 Quote Home Wx Station Stats (Since January 2008): Max Temp: 96.3F (2009) Min Temp: 2.0F (2008) Max Wind Gust: 45 mph (2018, 2021) Wettest Day: 2.34 (11/4/22) Avg Yearly Precip: 37" 10yr Avg Snow: 8.0" Snowfall Totals '08-09: 30" | '09-10: 0.5" | '10-11: 21" | '11-12: 9.5" | '12-13: 0.2" | '13-14: 6.2" | '14-15: 0.0" | '15-16: 0.25"| '16-17: 8.0" | '17-18: 0.9"| '18-19: 11.5" | '19-20: 11" | '20-21: 10.5" | '21-22: 21.75" | '22-23: 10.0" 2023-24: 7.0" (1/17: 3", 1/18: 1.5", 2/26: 0.5", 3/4: 2.0", Flakes: 1/11, 1/16)

Yeah, 50-55mph seems like a good call for now. Could be the strongest south wind here since 4/7/2017.

Experienced that kind of snowfall once or twice in my life and it’s something I’ll never forget. Hope you’re taking it all in, because you’ll feed off the euphoric high for years. Getting close to 30 now and still snowing hard. Leavenworth is used to lots of snow, but the entire town has shut down over this

Dec 1998 and 1999 both had sub freezing highs here.
