34F here, have 5" of the sloppiest snow accumulated. It's gross but it'll protect my snowpack for a bit haha

Sounds like all of Skykomish is without power now, I can only imagine how much they got up there!

Elevation 580’ Location a few miles east of I-5 on the Snohomish Co side of the Snohomish/Skagit border. I love snow/cold AND sun/warmth!

Wondering if Astoria nears its 24-hour rainfall record-- just over 3 inches of rain there already. Another 2.5 inches as that atmospheric river has really setup doesn't seem insanely far-fetched.

Haha, we had the same thought.

Their calendar day record is 5.56", so it's a bit of a push but they could get pretty close.

I am INCREDIBLY jealous of Brian, Snowmizer, and everyone else experiencing the absolute epicness east of the cascades. What an epic event over there. Looking forward to when they both Check in here. Don’t think I have seen that much snow on the Shari’s cam In Winthrop. And the Leavenworth live cam…I could sit and watch that all day. Meanwhile we now wait until the end of January at the earliest. Fingers crossed!
38 and drizzle here.

Watching the Leavenworth cam all morning.  Plows are going and a few folks venturing out!  Wish I was there

WSDOT already had a huge staffing shortage going into winter. They probably have a bunch of people out tempoerarily due to the Omicron wave.

The Portland airport has become pretty urbanized the last 20 or so years which plays a role, most outlying spots in the Portland area have seen teens in that stretch even your new location Corvallis hit 18 less than two weeks ago

SR 14 is the only way through the Cascades right now north of Mt. Hood.

Here we are getting a long overdue classic active La Niña winter wide variety of interesting weather crushing Cascade snowpack and basically everyone in the western lowlands has seen snow so far but you wouldn’t guess it with the sad mood from some this morning

Certainly quite a bit to go but now that the AR has setup it isn't inclined to move for quite a bit. In any case, I'd expect some rather nasty flooding in low-lying spots near susceptible rivers and streams.

Interesting to see January 2009 at the top of the list. Could we potentially see a glancing blow late month? Our Spokane friends would be pleased with this outcome.

Many of those were followed by 1-2 week retrogrades.

1962 had a backdoor airmass around the 12th and then the big blast around the 18th.

1980 was very quickly followed by the backdoor event around the 26th.

1994 had a backdoor airmass around the 8th of February.

1996 had the pattern break down a bit and then the large -PNA trough setup by the 17th.

2009 had the backdoor event around the 26th.

Even so the PDX stretch is still pretty impressive. Salem and Eugene have not gotten below 20.

I wasn’t in town for the Corvallis 18 but indeed some of the better radiational cooling spots in the valley have seen teens. Same at Hillsboro AP which I use when back in Tigard

Ya i hope we start to see the op pick up on the ensemble trends soon. I feel like it was the other way around last time, the operational kept showing goods in fantasy land on every run while ensembles slowly caught up. GEFS looks a bit better so far than 6z but i'm just happy its not starting to show something totally different.

Haven't been below 17 here since January 2017.

This location also didn't go below 17 between December 1998 and February 2006, so I still have a couple more years to go to catch up to that streak.
