Haven't been below 17 here since January 2017.

This location also didn't go below 17 between December 1998 and February 2006, so I still have a couple more years to go to catch up to that streak.

We haven't had a low temp below 20F since Jan 6, 2017. 5 years since we were last in the teens...

Still only 34°F here, surprisingly, with 2.6" in the rain gauge. Snow is soaking up the rain like a sponge. NWS Seattle posted "If you have significant snow on your roof,  the addition of a heavy accumulation of rainfall over the next couple of days could pose a threat for roof collapses. If the rain is soaking into the snow load on the roof instead of melting or sliding the snow off, beware." Guess I'll be busting out the roof rake when I get home.

Yeah... I am anxiously awaiting the SW wind here.    We need to start melting this snow... all this rain is on top of all this snow is a bad deal.

Centralia already approaching 2" of rainfall on the day. Near record flooding is being forecast on the Chehalis, Skoomchuck, and Newaukum Rivers in Lewis County. Probably gonna see I-5 shut down around there tonight.

Going to be pretty bad if I-5 shuts down and all passes are closed.  A travel nightmare!

Wenatchee! Don't know much about their weather, but that has to be a good storm for them.

Just saw on facebook that some areas in the county are already seeing freezing rain.

Could be. Probably further west towards Ferndale, maybe. But there was no precipitation here when I was shoveling this morning, and the fresh snowpack was still light and powdery, without a hint of ice coating the top. Looking at the radar, I don't show any significant moisture heading towards Whatcom County for a while anyway (unless there is something wrong with the radar). So I think we dodged that bullet in my litttle corner. My drive to work was mostly uneventful, so I'll take it.

An old photo of Ashland flooded 1884. According to locals it used to happen several times a generation until some decades ago.

They have flood walls now. My grandmother lived behind the floodwalls in Ironton over on the Ohio side.

Significant drought improvement overall recently in Washington and Oregon. We’re at 1” of rain today and 3.16” MTD…more than half of normal in the first 6 days. Haven’t been below average on precip since august now. Next week should look even better.

Friday morning looks like a potentially damaging wind event for the Willamette valley. Breezy weather up through Seattle, as well, then a strong westerly push through the strait of Juan de Fuca, as well as the Strait of Georgia into Vancouver BC.

Leavenworth's 24 hour record is 28" right? Don't know if they keep any official snow records there anymore there, but it seems this storm may beat that.

Yeah it is 28.  Don't know if that was a midnight to midnight or total storm.  If it was midnight to midnight, there may have been even more than 28 on either side of midnight.  We didn't have that much new snow by midnight last night, maybe 5 inches or so.  Records now are kept at the fish hatchery I believe, and when I was in that area an hour ago it was the mix of sleet, snow, and freezing rain so their totals may not go up much.  But it could switch back to all snow I suppose.  All snow at my house close to downtown.
