The next ridge looks like a classic big inversion scenario.  Hopefully we can pull off some 40/30 type days or maybe even 38/28.  No doubt that 2013 takes the cake for a January inversion though this century.  I had a number of days that were in the 35/23 type range.

It cleared out here, but it's still only 42.  Might get pretty chilly tonight if the thicker clouds can hold off.

2013 was insane, I think SLE had 5-6 sub freezing highs. We went into that with fresh snow and had a 27/11 day. It was nuts, we were right on the edge of the inversion, we would have clear night and foggy days. Perfect for dropping into the teens at night and then staying cold during the day.

Basically a carbon copy to yesterday up here, was sunny until the early afternoon when the low clouds started rolling in, then the fog settled in again over the last hour.

The morons who built that resort didn’t think about how the wind attacks the summit. Can’t recall any “calm” weather there. Ever.

I learned to ski there as a kid.  It's by far the best skiing on east coast south of New England.

Spewing some stream/ash again but looks very minor on satellite.

Could be preparing to erupt again (real possibility given behavior in past eruptions) but don’t think it has yet.

There's definitely no solid evidence, but it seems like some sources report Darwin Volcanic Ash Advisory Center monitor reports eruption and Pacific Tsunami Warning Center reports large waves. Obviously the evidence so far does not clearly indicate a large eruption.

Very unclear evidence about this "new eruption." I'm really doubting that this is actually a thing, despite major news sources picking it up. Volcanologists cite no volcanic lightning activity and no major satellite activity, any major activity would be under the sea. Hope it's fake.

Alright, I think the eruption is BS. Shameful of The Guardian and other major news sites to headline that before confirming.

I wished I had my phone on me for this story. I was outside cleaning up and had let my chickens out to get some exercise when out of nowhere came a coyote trying to grab a hen. We have one rooster and the crazy dude chased the coyote pecking at his face and charging him lol. Rooster absolutely saved the hens from doom. It was a smaller and young coyote otherwise it'd be game over.

Pretty hard to fathom that Stevens is close to going below normal after what recently happened up there.  Total feast or famine this winter.  Given that Nina winters are famous for being the best in the second half, I think we are far from done.

Now the NY Post? There is no major second eruption, the source they cite says ash has entered the Darwin VAAC region!! It isn't hard to fact check your information before posting.

We all saw how obvious it was on the sat pic with the last event.  If this possible new one isn't showing up there it can't be much.

This inversion ended being somewhat decent at least.  SEA only made 42 today.  It would have been better if things hadn't been so sopping wet going into it.
