Wow!  That means no skiing up there until further notice.  I think a lot of people are already cursing 2022.

I'm fine with a lack of snow chances if it means cold and dry. I love a good sunny winter day!

I just wish we could get the cold and dry with snow on the ground.  Might still happen later on.

I think everyone is going to get it on this round.  I got it two days before Christmas and just now feel pretty much normal again.  There is a long period of fatigue that goes with it.

How long did you isolate?   My wife has COVID and has not had a fever for 3 days now... but she is still tired and says she does not feel normal.     I am guessing people might feel run down much longer than they are contagious.

I think it really depends on different factors. Your personal immune system, vaccination, prior infection, age, what strain you caught.

Personally, I came down with symptoms last Monday night, was really under the weather for about 3 days and am feeling about 90% normal now.

Same timing as my wife.   Do you think you are still contagious?

Even so, we have hard data showing that Seattle is cloudier than Portland (sunshine hours). Everett and Bellingham are socked in with marine layers much more often than Portland in early summer (longest days of the year) and are much cloudier in NW flow patterns (spring). Given all that I find it hard to believe.

Having lived near both, I can tell you that there isn't really an appreciable difference in cloudcover between the Portland metro and Bellingham.

Yeah it was just a sore throat the first 2 days…had a fever at one point but mostly just been a runny nose and feeling tired. So far it’s just felt like a worse than normal cold but still not a lot of fun. Today is day 5 of symptoms for me.

As far as I can tell the vaccines are worthless.  I got it after the J&J and my wife got it after having the other one.

I got a really odd sense of taste and smell about 7 days into it.  Thank goodness it went away quickly.  That was super annoying.

I assume neither of you were hospitalized?   That is one potential benefit.    Vaccines do nothing now to stop transmission.

La Niña standing wave is getting dominated by the MJO/intraseasonal activity. Barely decipherable over the next 2 weeks.

Is there a place I can go to learn more about all of these terms? I have no idea what they mean but would really like to!

Yeah funny how these things work.

In mid-autumn it’s phase-8 that’s cold in the PNW. That relationship completely reverses by January.

It's a balmy 55F now, down from a high of 56.3! Went on a walk down by Lake Washington and I wished I had shorts. I like cold and snow, but this is a pretty great intermission.
