Central Coast spared for now, but look at that eddy. The circulation is centered farther south than usual, too.

Microclimates will be flexing their muscles big time today as beaches struggle to clear and high pressure squashes the marine layer into a shallow, concentrated blanket.

We’re getting partial clearing that lets me keep the sweatshirt on the hanger, but layers are advised if you’re within a mile of the water. Just in case.

Had a decent thunderstorm earlier that turned into a lingering steady rain that has been lasting for hours.

98F here this afternoon. Temperatures recovered very poorly last night with a low of only 65F.

Satellite looks similar to yesterday but the eddy is less defined and it’s more of an undefined, roiling mass. Inversion still looks strong and marine layer is shallow, so get ready for mega microclimates.

OC beaches seem to have beaten it back, but not so much in the neighboring counties.

Yesterday I noticed activity starting to bubble up over Arizona too it’s getting to be that time of year again

There are some disgustingly hot temps out in the desert southwest.  I guess they are used to it.  It may be wrong, but I saw a reading of 114F near Phoenix today.  Also bad air quality in parts of Arizona due to blowing wind according to one of their local news outlets. The region gets some hot temps for the next couple days.

Inversion not as strong today, allowing for some sun this morning. That said it’s already getting breezy, and it could rush back in any second.
