Saw a lot of virga over Temecula this evening.

Lots of monsoonal clouds this morning after the marine layer burned off.

When the summer warms up here, the fleas come with it. They live off our neighbors’ dogs, but spill over into our yard and pathway as well. I’m covered in bites, mostly on my legs.

SSTs are down slightly at coasts north of PV, but this weekend might prop them back up.

Low was 69F again, for the third night in a row. Extensive cloud cover is keeping temperatures down today so far, however.

A dark sheet of rain just engulfed Palomar Mountain from my POV in the Temecula Valley. High Point camera up there seems to confirm this. Some poor guy picked a bad day to drive up there. Hope they found shelter.

Mid level clouds back big time! They’ve shaved a few degrees off inland temps, which should please Reg.

Temp was 95F for an hour and then began tanking. 86F now while humidity is increasingly sharply. Doppler radar shows rain right on the eastern edge of the valley right now.

Cloudy out there and it's hard to tell if it's a low marine layer, higher monsoonal moisture or both.

2 AM and just started lightly raining here. Not enough to measure at my location yet but Temecula already registered 0.01" just south of me. Streets are wet outside. Glad I stayed up late tonight.

0.01" for me right now, 0.05" in Temecula. Still quite a bit of yellow over us on doppler radar but I feel like much of that isn't reaching the ground at this time. I do have to sleep now but will update in the morning.

Amazing view to the mountains east of here, just a wall of cumulonimbus for several hours now. I haven't been able to get a good picture of it sadly, but it's more or less like this (but from further away):

High was a very respectable, for the beach, 78. 
Good visibility thanks to the monsoon helping scour out the gunk. I could see the storm developing way out to my east…had to be 60-80 miles away.

Ocean temps could take a dump this weekend, but next week should bring recovery. Right now they are fairly warm south of LA County, but a cold tongue is creeping in to the north.

next week; tug of war continues between a powerful 4 corners high and a pretty frequent trough to our north.

LA Airport up to 80 as reported at 90045! (More like 75 right on the water.) For immediate coastal LA County, that could be considered a minor heat wave.

Some oceanfront towns aren’t feeling it at all: San Clemente reporting a mere 73. They must not be getting the weak offshore gradient like nearby beaches…plus their weather station is on a pier.

104F here at noon, temp has fallen quite a bit since then to only 97F as numerous high clouds have rolled in over us.
