I just realized that I’ve gone well over a week without so much as a puff of Marine layer. A real rarity anytime between April and October! How much longer before the ocean cools down and the gray stuff returns?

The fog has been lingering herein the Santa Maria and Lompoc area recently but it usually clears out before 8am. Most of the night its clear

The ocean water was fairly cold today, about 68. Must be localized to the beach areas. Waves were rough which made peeing in the water challenging.

Morro Bay had a pretty standard high of 63 F today.

Low 73F here this morning. Our lows have been in the upper 60s/low 70s since late July.

The colder water is making its move—it cleared Pt. Mugu and the Santa Monica Bay’s warming is in peril. The marine layer coverage is up quite a bit on satellite.

If we don’t get another good pulse soon, the party may be over.

I have to disagree with Daniel Swain Weatherwest on this one. Daniel's study must be based on something other than recent weather history. The article here Epic Flooding for California future. How can the scientists say epic flooding ahead along with predictions of long term drought? Yes big ARs are always possible but unlikely to create historical flooding.

About half-way into the month and average low temperatures are running almost five degrees above normal here for August.

80F dew point in Yuma is wild, that’s like peak Japan level. Hard to believe it’s happening in a desert.

Spotted some marine clouds clinging to PV for the first time in almost 2 weeks. Looks like an eddy started to spin up.

Now there is fog closing in. Yup, only a matter of time with falling SSTs in the bay. Still warm from OC on down, but they’ve taken a dump in the northern half of the Bight.

Normally I would go to the pool on a hot day like today, but on Sundays it's full of drunkards and other obnoxious adults due to their weekly pool bar, aka Sunday Funday. That should end after Labor Day.

Out of 14 days so far this August, eight of them have featured high temperatures 100F+ where I am. The other six were all between 95F and 99F.

The rogue fog bank is gone from my neck of the woods by 1:30pm. Turned out similar to yesterday, pretty warm and sticky but breezy.
