For some immediate coastal areas the hottest day was Wednesday. Today might not hit 80 here in the 90266. The car wash now reads 74.

There’s always guesswork when you predict how offshore winds will affect towns right on the water. There were many days in spring 2019 where Malibu basked in high 70s and low 80s while the South Bay remained socked in. And I’ve seen the reverse during shallow marine layer days — last summer there were a handful of days in July where Malibu hovered at 59!!! We were below average but not quite as extreme on those days.

86F here today, warmer than the last couple of days. Noticed wildflowers growing along I-15 south of Temecula.

It's very possible that the majority of the 2021-22 season's rainfall has already fallen in Southern California. Late February, March and April still hold a chance of giving us something decent, I don't believe we'll be completely dry between now and the season's end.

SSTs running near normal. Of course, that’ll be put to the test in another 6 weeks or so when NW wind season begins.

The NW wind season was so bad last year. It was constant cold NW winds throughout the entire spring. 🤮

Humidity has fully recovered here over the past few hours, after three weeks of dry conditions. Haven't seen the humidity come anywhere near 90% since the cutoff low in mid-January.

The marine layer has finally returned to Orange after a long stretch of off and on Santa Ana winds and low humidity. Hopefully the pattern is more active the remainder of this season than it has been over the past 1 1/2 months! This has been one extremely long dry spell, and dry spells in the past have rarely exceeded 6 weeks in length in Socal during the wet season.
